From HR: Expand your career with a job shadow
Would you like to learn about other areas of our business? So many departments fit together perfectly to make North Shore Bank “the Bank of You” for our customers.

But “the Bank of You” also refers to YOU, our employees. We believe in your growth and development here at North Shore Bank. And one way you can grow is to learn about other areas of banking.

Our job shadow program is a great way to learn more about other areas of North Shore Bank and expand your knowledge. You’ll learn how your role affects others and how other roles affect you. Milene Below explains more here.

Four Cristo Rey students join bank for work-study

For the second year, North Shore Bank welcomes students from Cristo Rey Jesuit High School Milwaukee to join us for a work-study program that will provide them with valuable professional experience. Pictured above are North Shore Bank’s students:

  • Jonathan (Nathan) Andrade Placencia, who will work in Loan Administration on Wednesdays under Nicole Daniels
  • Victoria Valdivia, who will work in Marketing on Tuesdays under Kate Knox
  • Suleima Sanchez-Herrejon, who returns to the CSC on Tuesdays, under Natalie Canadeo and Janet Russell, after working there last year
  • Erick Chavez, who will work in Commercial Banking on Thursdays under Margaret Capper and Jody Moore

Senior vice president Molly Schissler and Natalie are behind them. Read more about the students and program here.

Newsletter tracks bank’s Shorewood locations

The Shorewood Historical Society’s summer newsletter devoted a page and a half to North Shore Bank, in honor of our 95th anniversary and the opening of our new office in the village.

The photo above, from the ribbon-cutting at our July 31 grand opening, features branch manager Shannon Weber, village board president Alison Rozek, and CEO and chairman Jim McKenna. (The “ribbon” was composed of 20 $5 bills; the money was donated to the historical society.) The newsletter also includes a look at North Shore Bank’s nine locations in Shorewood over the last 95 years — you can check out the PDF here. •••

North Shore Investment Services wins Cetera award
North Shore Investment Services won an award at Cetera Financial Group’s Connect18 national conference in San Antonio last month. Based on year-end revenue for 2017, we earned third place among Cetera client banks with gross-revenue assets between $1 billion and $2 billion.

Vice president and program manager Erika Milosevich credited the win to a group effort by her team of investment consultants: Roxanna Bruss, Cetera President’s Club member Jeff Eichel, Ted Green, Jeff Pieters, and Dennis White.

“While this was a true surprise to us, we are so pleased to have reached this achievement after 14 years with Cetera,” Erika said. “It also means real results for the bottom line of the bank and real results for our customers. I am fortunate to have an excellent team.” •••

New Hires for September 6
It’s always exciting to add new members to our team. Here are some of the fresh faces at North Shore Bank.

Mequon personal banker David Panitzke is from St. Louis, Missouri, and was previously a territory manager for southeast Wisconsin for Orbit Medical, a durable medical equipment company. “I can throw gummy candy as high as I can in the air and catch it in my mouth,” Dave says. In fact, he adds: “I have been known to catch candy thrown over small buildings.” He also enjoys backpacking and camping. •••

North Shore Shape Up: It’s never too late to get healthy
There’s no such thing as a lost cause, as recent medical research demonstrates. Cleveland Clinic Wellness reports:

For a recent study, a group of sedentary, middle-aged adults started exercising four or five times a week, with one short, strenuous interval-based workout and three or four moderate-intensity workouts that lasted at least 30 minutes. Two years later, the participants were fitter, and their heart muscles were more youthful and healthier. In other words, you can teach an old heart new tricks!

So don’t lose hope — even if you’ve never been fit, you can substantively improve your health by making concrete changes going forward. The clinic suggests: “Start where you are, no matter your age, and build up to about 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise a week.” •••
