Wendy Gyles says goodbye, after many e-banking achievements

Wendy Gyles retires next week.

We profiled electronic banking AVP Wendy Gyles, who retires next week, last month in honor of her 20th anniversary with North Shore Bank. So for her retirement, Shorelines asked if she would put together a short message for her colleagues.

“Wendy’s leadership as our e-banking manager has resulted in several successful and long-lasting programs here at North Shore Bank,” says Jude Lengell, vice president, deposit operations. “Some of the most notable are the start-up of our Instant Issue program; adding business, platinum, and health savings debit cards to our card offerings; the introduction of our Debit REWARDS program; and implementing the Masterpass and Apple Pay wallets. There are countless other initiatives Wendy led the charge on, and I will be forever grateful for the dedication and drive she displayed while working on everything assigned to her and her team.

“Wendy can look back on her 20-plus years of service here at North Shore Bank with great pride and accomplishment. I wish her the best as she enters this new and exciting chapter of her life. I will miss her, as will the entire CSC team, but she leaves us with a great foundation of knowledge and expertise.”

Here’s Wendy’s farewell message:

Saying goodbye to my North Shore family is difficult! Spending each weekday with people really makes them part of an extended family. I feel I have made many friends, and I will miss them. As in any family, there is a patriarch who guides us: chairman and CEO Jim McKenna. He genuinely cares for the people who work for North Shore, and it has been a privilege to work for him.

The last 20 years has brought many exciting changes in the debit world at North Shore Bank, and it has been a fun journey to work with Jude and her team to accomplish so many things. Working with Jude and Lyneen Fischer can be fast-paced, informational (they never forget anything!), educational, and fun. It is not often an employee can consider their bosses friends. I know I have a friend in both Jude and Lyneen. They have taught me so much, and we have had many laughs during projects.

The debit team has grown from when I started in e-banking — from a team of three to nine. What a wonderful group! North Shore is lucky to have every one of the team. They work each day to be accurate and helpful to internal and external customers, and to accept new projects and products — and I can’t forget embossing!

I have enjoyed my years working at North Shore Bank. I now look forward to working on projects at home that I have not had time for. I know my dog will be begging for additional walks each day. I want to take classes at the YMCA — and to look out the window when it’s snowing and be happy I don’t have to drive!
