20 years ago, Sharon Hack traded clothing for banking
Area branch manager Sharon Hack had worked in retail clothing for over a decade when her husband spotted an ad for an opening at North Shore Bank in 1999. “I was looking for a job with more work-life balance so we could expand our family,” she says. As a manager at Elder-Beerman department store, Sharon was busy nights and weekends, and she was ready for a change. “It seemed like every Christmas Eve I was sick because we’d be pushing so hard to get through the season. So right away I thought, Nine to five, traditional banker’s hours, and went ahead and applied.”

By all accounts, it was the right move. Read more about Sharon’s 20 years with North Shore Bank now!

Strazishar wins Howard’s mystery box contest

Roberta with her winnings.

To mark the last month of fiscal year 2019, Howard-Suamico branch employees held a competition. “During September, whoever had a conversation with customer or got a referral would get to steal a box with surprise gifts in it,” assistant branch manager Emmeline Knight-Guzmán said.

Teller Roberta Strazishar won the contest. “She had a great conversation with a customer about meeting with Roxanna Bruss on investment and retirement planning. She was very excited to win!” Roberta is pictured above with her prize, which contained autumn-themed items like a blanket, a candle, light-up pumpkin decor, and a frame that said, “Dogs are not our whole lives but they make our lives whole.” •••

Adams finishes first full marathon in under four hours

Mickey, after the race with her medal, joined by daughter Lindsey, grandson Croix, and husband Tom.

Assistant VP and Allouez and Green Bay East area manager Mickey Adams ran the Lakefront Marathon earlier this month, clocking in at 3 hours, 49 minutes. She had completed four half marathons previously, but this was her first full 26.2 miles.

“It was a perfect day,” she says. “Started out with gloves and jacket and just tossed them when I warmed up. Light winds, sunny, and lots of spectators made the miles a bit easier. The toughest part was mile 13.1, and knowing I was only halfway. It was definitely more of a mental game, doing a full versus a half, and I am very thankful I was able to push through and finish this race and cross it off my bucket list.”

Though Mickey’s time was fast enough to qualify her for the world-famous Boston Marathon, she plans to stick with half marathons and other fun races from here on out. She’ll head to Las Vegas for the Rock ’n’ Roll half marathon in November. •••

New Hires for October 17
It’s always exciting to add new members to our team. Here are some of the fresh faces at North Shore Bank.

Shorewood teller Micki Usama is from Quito, Ecuador, but has lived in Wisconsin since she was 6. She previously worked at a women’s clothing store at Mayfair Mall and will attend UW-Milwaukee next fall. “I love to spend time with my family and friends, as well as volunteer,” Micki says. “Currently, I volunteer at Ronald McDonald House Charities. I spend the majority of my time ensuring the house is well maintained and clean for the next family who comes. I’m also in charge of taking kids to the ‘Magic Room,’ where they are able to pick out their favorite toy and a book! Their smiles light up the whole room, and it makes volunteering feel so rewarding.” •••
