Mindful Minute: Take time for random acts of kindness
Welcome to February’s Mindful Minute! The focus for this month is random acts of kindness.

We tend to get wrapped up in the crazy pace of our days, our lives, and forget simple considerations. This month’s challenge is to take a moment to do small, simple things that can have such a big impact. Something as simple as buying someone a cup of coffee can trigger a ripple effect of good vibes! When you do this, you also have a positive impact on yourself. Performing small acts of kindness helps stop the negative self-talk and critical judgment that many of us experience throughout the day. That carries through to our interaction with co-workers and family.

Check out the February Random Acts of Kindness calendar for ideas. Give them a try — be a positive trend-setter! Pat Ingelse, Assistant Vice President, PMP •••

Benefits U: Learn about qualified life events
Did you know there are times when employees can make changes to their benefit elections outside of the annual open enrollment period?

These times are when big changes occur in an employee’s personal life — such as when they get married, have a baby, or lose health coverage. Life events such as these mean an employee may be eligible for a special enrollment period. Find out more about what qualified life events allow you to make changes to your health insurance and other benefits!

Polar Plungers and the North Shore Bank bowlers at the tournament last month.

The Southridge and Forest Home branches joined forces to sponsor a team in the nine-pin tap bowling tournament for the Hypothermic Hawks on January 19. The Hawks raise money for the annual Muskego Polar Plunge Special Olympics fundraiser, which takes place this Sunday, February 9.

Bank wins Diversity in Business Award

Chairman and CEO Jim McKenna and area branch manager Alfredo Martin preside over last fall’s ribbon-cutting at our remodeled El Rey branch.

North Shore Bank is honored to have been recognized by the Milwaukee Business Journal as a 2020 Diversity in Business Award winner. These awards are for “entrepreneurs, individuals and commercial enterprises whose contributions toward growth, expansion and prosperity are making a difference in Milwaukee’s central city and others across the region.”

Bank leadership cited El Rey branch manager Alfredo Martin as “an integral reason” that North Shore Bank received this honor.

“We’re thrilled and honored to be recognized by the Milwaukee Business Journal for their Diversity in Business Awards,” the bank posted on social media. “Helping families thrive, businesses grow, and communities flourish is one of our primary missions, and we take pride in meeting the unique needs of the Latino population.” •••
