The new normal: New co-worker quite pleased
“It has taken a bit of time to adjust to my new co-worker,” reports deposit operations specialist Erica Kuik. “There have been many moments I thought about reporting him to HR for inappropriate language, but Gizmo has been enjoying every minute of me working from home. Pretty sure he thinks he’s a kitty.” Gizmo is named after the movie Gremlins, and you can get a better look at his little mogwai face here.

Salute Seymour’s 20th birthday by helping kids save
Break out the cake and party favors — next Wednesday, April 22, North Shore Bank mascot Seymour Savings turns 20!
Yes, though he doesn’t look a day past 12, everyone’s favorite seagull was born on Earth Day in the year 2000. April, of course, is also National Teach Children to Save Month. And a perfect way to teach kids to save is setting up a Seymour Savings account.
Seymour Savings accounts earn interest at the same rate as a regular savings account and require no minimum balance or monthly fee for account holders under 21. Plus, savers get a prize each time they make a deposit! You can find out more here.

Video teller service now available at North End
The lobby remains under appointment-only access due to the COVID-19 outbreak, but North Shore Bank’s new North End branch is now serving customers via walk-up video teller machines.
Deposit and withdraw funds, pay bills, and perform other tasks with help from a video teller at the corner of East Pleasant and Water streets. And Ray Guardiola and his North End team look forward to seeing even more customers when the state’s safer-at-home order is lifted. •••

Get a handle on stress with this breathing technique
Need to calm down? You are not alone — many people are experiencing higher levels of stress and anxiety right now because of the coronavirus pandemic. Courtesy of the Cleveland Clinic, here’s a way to get a hold of yourself in one minute flat:
- Place one hand on your upper chest and another just below your rib cage.
- Breathe in slowly through your nose. Keep your hands still.
- Exhale through your mouth, allowing your belly to “deflate” inward again.
- Repeat three more times.
As the clinic explains, “the quality and rhythm of your breath affect your nervous system … A full, deep breath makes your lungs and chest send a signal to your brain, and you feel calmer.” •••
