Branches donate to food pantries for Bank on Kindness
To help our communities as the country deals with the COVID-19 pandemic, the next phase of our Bank on Kindness initiative will see our branches making donations to local food pantries.
Managers will drop off donations at eight pantries by the end of this week, for a total of $7,500 donated. Pantries include St. Joseph Food Program in Appleton, Milwaukee Christian Center’s Food Pantry, Shalom Center of the Interfaith Network in Kenosha, Hunger Task Force Inc. in Milwaukee, Love Inc. serving Burlington and Western Racine County, Paul’s Pantry in Green Bay, Feed and Clothe My People in Sturgeon Bay, and Racine County Food Bank. Illinois State Bank branches will donate another $1,000 total by the end of next week, as well, split between the Interfaith Food Pantry serving Lake in the Hills and the FISH of McHenry Food Pantry.
Along with their check, each pantry will also receive treats from local businesses for workers and volunteers and special kindness stickers from the bank. We are hoping for some cool photos and will share those when they come in! •••
Mindful Minute: In stressful times, look inside
These are such stressful times for all of us. We’re in uncharted territory, and we don’t have a road map to help us navigate our way through it.
Or do we? Pat Ingelse offers a few tips on tapping into your inner “map” to reduce stress and anxiety — such as not asking “What if…?” when you’re already worried enough. Read on to learn more!
The new normal: Co-workers want more snuggles
“This is Princess,” says debit card/network/processing specialist Kate Madderom. “She only comes to my office every Thursday. Her owner is my next-door neighbor and is also working from home. Princess comes and works with me once a week to stay sociable and allow her mama some time to herself. Plus, I get my doggie fix!”
“My new co-worker, Penny, likes to stare at me while I’m working, hoping for some cuddles,” says deposit services representative Mila Larson. “I’m not sure she understands social distancing or personal space.” As you can see here, Penny usually gets her way.
Send your stories and photos of social distancing and working from home under the “new normal” by email to shorelines@northshorebank.com or via text at 608-318-3348. We’ll run your submissions in an upcoming issue! •••
