“Dan Dan the Banking Man” takes reins at Germantown branch

New Germantown branch manager Dan Emmons recently relocated to Wisconsin from Seattle. “Dan Dan the Banking Man” worked at Key Bank, starting out as a part-time teller and ultimately working his way up to branch manager. He says he’s an avid Indy and Nascar racing fan who loves spending time at the track getting autographs from his favorite drivers. He talked to Shorelines about joining North Shore Bank.

How did you get into banking, and what has kept you in the industry?
A mentor of mine suggested I get into banking and that I would be good at it. Since I had no previous banking experience, I started out as a teller and worked my way up. I really enjoyed the financial industry and loved learning as much as I could. And management really liked my can-do attitude and work ethic, so I was asked to fill many different roles.

Do you really go by “Dan Dan the Banking Man”?
I really do! I found that Dan was a pretty plain name and wanted my customers to remember me. Now everyone I meet never forgets my name.

And what’s your favorite encounter with a race car driver?
When I was 12, I waited for Indy driver Al Unser Jr. to come out of his RV trailer for his autograph. He came out and talked to me for a bit, and I was thrilled to have met him.
