Change keeps the job interesting for Kolstad
Last time we checked in with Becky Kolstad, the Sturgeon Bay branch manager was busy preparing for the town’s two offices to merge.
“In the beginning, it was hard for some customers to accept the change,” she says of the merger. “But we were able to win them over.”
Adapting to change has been an important part of Becky’s career at North Shore Bank, since it now spans 40 years. And of course the last five have been especially eventful. Read more about how she’s enjoyed rolling with it!
New Digital Ambassadors making tech easier for all
The second class of our Digital Ambassadors has graduated. Mel Grode, Erin Hunsberger, Lauren Kinsella, and Micki Usama got in-depth training on North Shore Bank’s digital services, such as Online and Mobile Banking, Bill Pay, digital wallets and other payment services, digital business tools, and text alerts. See what else they learned and are sharing with colleagues and customers!

Mindfulness helps us see reality, rather than fantasy
A mindfulness practice keeps us alert to what’s really influencing us. It helps us react to reality rather than fantasy.
Try this meditation for one minute every day, or longer if you want to:
I PAY ATTENTION to the rising and falling of my breath. Everything else, I let come and go.
How did this meditation go for you? Share your experience at shorelines@northshorebank.com and you’ll be entered to win a copy of A Mindful Day: 365 Ways to Live Life With Peace, Clarity, and an Open Heart, by David Dillard-Wright.
If you’d like a daily email reminder to practice one minute of mindfulness, email us with the subject “Mindfulness reminder.” —Pat Ingelse, AVP and PMP •••
Video teller machine installed at Corporate
Employees at Corporate and anybody who’s stopped by may have noticed a new addition to the building’s vestibule: an interactive teller machine, better known to most of us as a video teller. As with every one of our ITMs, video teller services will be available seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays.
Video tellers can assist you with most services typically handled in person at a branch, and can usually help Spanish-speaking customers as well. And of course, the ITM offers standard ATM functions too. If you haven’t worked with a video teller before, stop in the lobby at Corporate and give it a try! •••

New Hires for September 16
It’s always exciting to add new members to our team. Here are some of the fresh faces at North Shore Bank.
West Allis personal banker Jessica Cullen is from Escanaba, Michigan, and worked as a general manager for Buffalo Wild Wings for eight years. She and her husband recently married in their backyard — it was a small wedding because of COVID-19, with only five people attending. Jessica gardens in her free time and has many tropical plants growing at home. “My husband would randomly come home from the store with plants he thought were unique, and then I would have to figure out how to keep them alive,” she explains. “We have a bird of paradise in our living room that is over six feet tall!”
Southwest teller Rachel Dahlke is from Milwaukee. Before joining the bank, she was a stay-at-home mom, and worked as a daycare teacher for nine years before that. She has a 10-year-old and a 3-year-old daughter and loves choosing fun colors for her hair and nails. “My favorite thing to do is relax at home with my daughters and watch Netflix,” Jessica says. “I love the show Manifest — it’s so exciting and makes you want to keep watching.”
Northland teller Char Schaible is originally from Peshtigo, but has lived in Appleton for over 20 years. Before joining North Shore Bank, she was with the Appleton YMCA for over 19 years. She likes to camp, garden, and spend time with her family, and has traveled and lived all over the world, including in New Orleans, San Diego, and Germany. “My favorite place to visit was Italy. The food, landscapes, and people were unforgettable,” she says. “But home is and will always be Wisconsin.” •••
