Looking for “family,” Moore found a 40-year career
Forty years ago, Jody Moore was waiting tables at a family-owned pizza restaurant — but ready for something else. “At 18, I wanted a more professional job, so I began hitting the pavement and applied at a number of financial institutions over the course of a few days,” she recalls. “I was hoping to find an employer who cared about its employees and made me feel like I was part of a family.”

21 restaurants take part in first Southside Dining Week

North Shore Bank’s first-ever Southside Dining Week is almost here. No less than 21 restaurants in 11 of Milwaukee’s South Side neighborhoods are participating in the big event, which runs from October 23 to 30 and celebrates the wide variety of global cuisines found here.
The fun kicks off this Saturday at Zócalo Food Park, with a live-band brunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. All week, the participating food vendors will each offer a signature dish for under $15. Our press release includes a list of the participating restaurants and their dishes.
Through Saturday, October 30, guests who spend $15 at a participating restaurant with their North Shore Bank debit Mastercard will get a $5 credit and be entered to win a $500 Mastercard gift card.
Southside Dining Week is meant to promote local businesses in an industry still recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic. “Our community bank focuses much of our efforts within these neighborhoods, and it’s our hope that this week will help uplift those businesses and introduce neighbors near and far to many fantastic restaurants they’ve not tried before,” area branch manager Alfredo Martin said.
North Shore Bank worked with engagement agency NEWaukee and many local organizations like the Latino Chamber of Commerce of Southeast Wisconsin to put together Southside Dining Week. “You Can” series digs into family finances, homebuying
Our “You Can” series on financial literacy in the Shepherd Express continues with installments on managing finances for kids and family and becoming a homeowner, as well as an upcoming happy hour event.
In September, Shorewood area branch manager Shannon Weber talked to the alt-weekly newspaper for a piece titled “You Can Grow and Support Your Family.” And last week, a conversation with senior mortgage lender Greg Kroll ran under the headline “You Can Become a Homeowner.” Greg invited readers to register for a casual happy hour on Tuesday, November 2, at Birch. The free event will feature light food and a craft beer tasting.
North End branch manager Ray Guardiola started the “You Can” series off with an article in August. The series recommends that readers take our quick “financial IQ assessment” to see where they can improve. Take a look at it and let customers, friends, and family know about it too! •••
West Allis has shower for Bahena

The team at West Allis surprised teller Andrea Bahena with a baby shower last week. Andrea and her fiancé are expecting a baby boy in December.
“It was so sweet! I was definitely very surprised. We are a team of four, so they kept it from me very well,” Andrea said. “They decorated our conference room in the cutest way. Jess, our personal banker, made delicious chicken tacos, and they also got me a chocolate cake to end the festivities. I was so grateful for the gifts they got me! I’m definitely looking forward to using them.” Congratulations, Andrea! •••

It’s always exciting to add new members to our team. Here are some of the fresh faces at North Shore Bank.
Sturgeon Bay teller Jeanne Pfeiffer is originally from Illinois. She and her husband moved to Door County six years ago, after their daughter graduated high school and joined the U.S. Army Reserve. “We decided it was time to live where we love to vacation,” Jeanne says. “We really love the natural beauty of Door County and the opportunities for outdoor activities — hiking, camping, and fishing. We often find ourselves taking a drive on Sundays and exploring new back roads.”
Oak Creek universal banker Joshua Tucker is from Milwaukee and worked at TJ Maxx for seven years. “I’ve been making candles by hand since 2019,” he says. “Working in retail for so long, you typically get to smell all of the candles that come in! I’ve always wanted to start a business of my own, and I figured the process of making them would be calming.” Joshua also has a bunny named Sage who loves to hop on the couch. •••
