BizTimes recognizes Capper as leader in commercial banking

Milwaukee’s BizTimes has named North Shore Bank SVP and commercial banking manager Margaret Capper a Notable Commercial Banking Leader.

“I am truly humbled by this,” Margaret says. “Nothing gets done without many hands, and I am truly blessed to work with such a great company, clients, and community.”

The regional business news publication recently recognized 16 such individuals, including Margaret, as a result of their achievements over the past year. The BizTimes noted Margaret’s partnership with the Latino Chamber of Commerce of Southeastern Wisconsin to create a revolving loan fund that provides financial support and loan access to Latino-owned small businesses.

“The work with the chamber comes easy to me, as this community has welcomed me with open arms for many years,” she says. “(Community engagement manager) Alfredo Martin and I — along with chamber president Nelson Soler — have a long history, going back to our time at Firstar. In fact, I trained them both in retail! Our team has fun, but measures success by outcomes and the success of people working toward the American dream of running their own business.”

Margaret has also led her team through the work associated with Paycheck Protection Program loans during the COVID-19 pandemic and spearheaded the bank’s partnership with the Lonely Entrepreneur to assist 11 Wisconsin Black entrepreneurs. Margaret also serves on the finance council for her alma mater Divine Savior Holy Angels High School, teaches financial literacy for juniors at Marquette University High School, and has been a trustee at Christ King Parish for the past nine years.

She credits her father with inspiring her to serve her community in so many ways. “He said it was the most meaningful work we can do, helping others and not focusing on ourselves.”
