Natalie Canadeo still learning, evolving after 25 years
When we checked in with Natalie Canadeo in 2017, she had only positive things to say. The trend continues as the deposit services manager marks 25 years with North Shore Bank.

“Over the last eight years, Natalie has led the charge on many continuous improvement initiatives in her department,” says her boss, VP customer support Jude Lengell, improving efficiency and cutting down on paper being used. “It’s been my pleasure to have worked with her for over 20 years!”

Natalie talked to Shorelines about how the last five years have been. Read it now!

Mama duck moves in, plus bingo, fundraiser, Easter fun

Can you see her? The mother duck waddles near her nest in the flowerbed.

A Muskego resident recently quacked our branch’s security, building a nest in one of the flowerbeds there. “April showers bring…mallard flowers?” joked personal banker Matthew Cieslak.

“I might have underestimated the size of the area when I got the fence,” Stephanie joked. Maybe she can buy more and put it on the mother’s bill?

“I went and bought a little fence to try to make sure customers don’t step on her nest,” said AVP community engagement manager Stephanie Ruiz, who promises to share more photos of the mother and her offspring when the ducklings hatch.

The Muskego branch also recently presented firefighter Mike Schmitt and his family with a giant check for $3,261.83 in donations, after they lost their home in a fire. Business customer Vintage Grounds coffee shop partnered with the bank on the fundraiser.

“I had really great time with the people at the senior center, and I cannot wait to do it again!” Phil said.

Pulaski assistant branch manager Phil Koebe called bingo at the Pulaski Adult Activity Center on a Tuesday afternoon earlier this month. “A Pulaski customer and local volunteer invited the branch to participate,” AVP community engagement manager Katie Longsine said. “Phil enjoyed announcing bingo and making the group laugh along the way.”

ONE MINUTE OF MINDFULNESS

Having compassion means being kind to yourself, too

Living a compassionate life isn’t only about how you treat others, but how you treat yourself as well. There are days when it feels like you’re beating your spirit like a piñata — and you’re not even getting candy! If you can be encouraging to yourself, rather than cutting, it will definitely change your mood.

Try this meditation throughout the day:

NOTICE THE WAY you talk to yourself. Stop any negative self-talk and replace it with a bit of gentleness.

Children often possess gifts which they lose as they grow up. With the years we seem to enter into a prison of conventions and opinions, concealments, and unquestioned acceptance, and there we lose the candor of childhood. The child still reacts spontaneously to the spontaneity of life. —Karl Jaspers, psychiatrist and philosopher

How did this meditation go for you? Share your experience with your fellow North Shore Bank employees at shorelines@northshorebank.com and you’ll be entered to win a copy of Mindfulness in Plain English, by Bhante Gunaratana.

PERSONNEL UPDATES

New Hires for April 21
It’s always exciting to add new members to our team. Here are some of the fresh faces at North Shore Bank.

New HR specialist Morgan Stark previously worked at Dedicated Computing LLC for over 13 years, with six years in human resources there. What brought her here? “North Shore Bank’s vision, mission, and values were a huge attraction for me,” she says. “But the biggest attraction was the people I met during the interview process. They were all very friendly and welcoming, and everyone had a smile. I instantly knew I wanted to be part of this team!” When she isn’t here, Morgan is usually spending time with her family. “Odds are, I’m at a sporting practice or game for the kids,” she says. She adds that she is easygoing and has a sense of humor. “Stop by, call, or Jabber to say hi. I look forward to getting to know all of you!”

Jackson Park universal banker Stephanie Hernandez was born in Chicago and raised in Milwaukee. She previously worked as a freelance makeup rep for PÜR Cosmetics. “My best friends are my boyfriend and my 2-year-old Goldendoodle, Bailey. “I also love going to Mexico and seeing my family. Spending time with family is such a calming experience for me. You appreciate the simple life and you get to truly disconnect from everything back home.” •••
