Free coin-counting drive will benefit Veterans Memorial in Wauwatosa

Through June 14, Flag Day, the public can stop by any North Shore Bank branch to count coins for free and donate all or a portion of the coins to a fundraising effort to support the construction of a Veterans Memorial in Wauwatosa. North Shore Bank is starting the fundraiser by matching donations up to $1,000.

Representatives from multiple VFW posts have formed a committee to create a local memorial honoring all the men and women who have served in the armed forces. Though the memorial will be located in Wauwatosa, all those who have served in the US Armed Forces will be honored, no matter where they’re from.

The committee worked with the city of Wauwatosa to select a beautiful site in Hart Park. The memorial will feature a stone monument highlighting each of the six branches of the United States military. In addition, a flag court will showcase the various branches plus the American flag.

Wauwatosa Veterans Memorial representatives announced North Shore Bank’s contributions at the May 27 Memorial Day Observance gathering, which took place in Wauwatosa at Hart Park at the designated  location of the future Veterans Memorial site.

“As a community bank, our partners and neighbors have been at the forefront of our business for over 100 years and as an active supporter in the Wauwatosa community for nearly 50 years, we wanted to do what we can to back the build of the Wauwatosa Veterans Memorial,” said Sue Doyle, SVP, head of retail banking. “We encourage everyone to stop by any of our branches to count coins for free and donate.”
