Char Lundstedt

Char Lundstedt joined North Shore Bank in late August as Sister Bay branch manager. She brings years of experience in banking as well as in commercial and investment real estate.

“I think my management style has roots in my early childhood love of reading; I especially loved Nancy Drew mystery stories,” she says.

The fictional Nancy Drew has evolved through many personas over the years. “In today’s marketing jargon, we’d say she changed her brand,” Char says.

“Regardless of her different personas, she was always someone who gave 100% to solving her case, to getting the job done,” Char remembers. “The Nancy Drew who influenced me years ago had some strong traits that I consider applicable in today’s business world.”

“Nancy was bold, never afraid to dive into unknown situations. What a wonderful role model for young girls; what a wonderful role model for anyone in today’s business world!” Char says. “Effective managers should always be willing to try new things and look for new approaches.”

“Nancy was a ‘solutions’ person,” Char confirms, “a lesson that applies to many aspects of life: focus on finding solutions, and be resourceful in the process. Dig up clues. Connect the dots. Be a problem solver.”

Char’s favorite Nancy characteristic was her expectation that life should be an adventure. “She was open to possibilities, to challenges, to opportunities to make a difference, to meet interesting people. They’re out there. You just have to be alert enough to find them,” Char says.

“As I begin my adventure as a North Shore Bank branch manager, I’m counting on the lessons of Nancy Drew, super sleuth, to help me through the mysteries of starting a new job.”
