Wellness challenge: Cut back on soda in April

As the diagram below makes clear, drinking soda can cause a lot of health problems — it’s not good for your heart, your teeth or your weight, among other things.

So for April, Wellness Coordinator Lynn Jack has organized a soda challenge. Here are the rules:

From April 1 to 26, keep track of how much soda you drink every day. As the month goes on, try to cut back each week or day.

Email your results to Lynn at ljack@northshorebank.com between April 27 and 30. Everyone who tracks their results and sends them to Lynn will be entered to win a prize.

Questions? Email Lynn or ask them in the comments. Good luck!

I already made this committment about 2 months ago. Even though it was caffeine free, diet soda, I can’t believe how much better I feel not drinking it anymore. It just wasn’t agreeing with my stomach for the most part and now that I see everything else it can affect, I know I made the right decision. There are so many other drinks out there to choose from. Some of the flavored seltzers, vitamin waters, or even Crystal light is a better alternative to soda.
Everyone who loves soda should take this challenge. You’ll feel better for doing it.

It can be done – I’ve been soda free for about 2 years now. Don’t miss it at all. Have recently stopped Crystal Light because of the aspertame; we don’t need that either. Plain old water with maybe a slice of lemon or lime does the job!

I’m in. Have stopped having it available at home and do not drink it while at work. Need to eliminate it from lunches out and meetings. Will start working on that, too!
