Recommended reading: Unbroken, by Laura Hillenbrand

Loss Mitigation Specialist Kerry Carrasco‘s book pick struck a particular chord:

My favorite book at the moment is Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. This is a great biography of an Olympian track star who joins the Army Air Force during World War II to become a bombardier flying B-24s. It describes the resilience, strength and pure will to live he mustered after being shot down over the Pacific and subsequently getting captured by the Japanese and kept as a POW. Not only did I learn what sort of atrocities a person can endure and still survive, but there is also a ton of history about the Air Force during WWII that left me wishing I had talked to my great-uncle, who served in the war, about it before he died.
