Surprise! Ron Olson’s coworkers celebrate his 40 years with bank

Loan Operations Process and Risk Analyst Ron Olson was surprised with a cake to celebrate his 40 years with North Shore Bank.

Ron Olson grabbed a pad of paper and a pen and headed into a meeting Tuesday, but his coworkers had another idea. They had called the “meeting” to celebrate Ron’s 40 years with North Shore Bank. He was completely surprised!

Ron’s a Loan Operations Process and Risk Analyst in the Servicing-Commercial department, but he’s held many other roles in his four decades here—Teller, Consumer Loan Representative, New Account Representative, Teller Supervisor at the Northwest office, and Branch Manager for 10 years at Bayshore. In 2000, he moved to Corporate as Consumer Loan Servicing Manager, then Commercial Loan Servicing Manager, and finally into the role he holds today.

“I really like how each position prepared me to excel in the next position,” he said.

He heads into his 41st year with plans to retire in April, but until then, it’s business as usual. “I truly enjoy what I do, and it’s been a great career,” Ron said.

Cheryl Lang, VP, Commercial Loan Servicing Manager, has worked with Ron for the past 18 years. “To be completely honest, I cannot imagine what those years would have been like without him!” she said. “Ron is a highly regarded colleague and helpful resource in the loan servicing areas.”

Nicole Daniels, VP, Loan & Treasury Operations, echoed that sentiment. “He holds a wealth of knowledge that he is always willing to pass on,” she said. “I have greatly enjoyed working with Ron over my past 16 years at North Shore Bank. When he retires in April, he will be missed!”

But it isn’t just his deep knowledge that makes Ron a great colleague. Cheryl said Ron’s great sense of humor is much appreciated among the “group of women” he’s surrounded by. “We have a lot of fun and are a close-knit department,” she said, adding that his homemade chicken salad is always requested when they have department potlucks. “He’s a great resource and a great friend.”

Congratulations on 40 years with North Shore Bank, Ron!

CUSTOMER FEEDBACK

Customers express gratitude for excellent service at branches

Customers at the Muskego branch shared a sweet letter of gratitude with President & CEO Jay McKenna. 03342 They were grateful to everyone at the branch and gave a special shout-out to Personal Banker Sara Speich and Lead Teller Melissa Grode. The letter said:

“We have been North Shore bank customers for over 25 years and wanted to take a moment to send kudos to the Muskego branch, especially Mel and Sara. In a world where customer service isn’t what it used to be, we truly appreciate the hometown feel, the friendliness, and great service we have received over the years. These are the reasons we have not/will not switch banks. We may not be your biggest customers, but we are North Shore Bank’s biggest fans.”

Another customer called out the fantastic team at the Cudahy branch in a customer feedback card.

Congratulations to the Muskego and Cudahy branches for receiving this well-deserved praise!

FINANCIAL LITERACY & EDUCATION

Resolve to create an emergency fund with help from Elevate

As much as we’d like to be able to anticipate every expense that comes our way, we also know it’s just not possible. Cars can unexpectedly break down, a storm can cause a costly home repair, or we might need to travel on short notice to visit an ailing family member. Any of these things can stress your finances beyond a comfortable point.

It’s difficult to prepare for every possibility, but creating and maintaining an emergency fund will provide peace of mind when surprise expenditures pop up. Elevate Wisconsin, a free financial resource for all North Shore Bank employees, has a 10-minute webinar called “Emergency Funds—How to Prepare for the Unexpected” that offers strategies for creating and contributing to an emergency fund.

If one of your goals in 2025 is to improve your personal finances, building an emergency fund that helps you avoid the stress and consequences of unexpected expenses can be a positive step.
