Bank employees make back-to-school a little brighter for teachers
The Video Teller Department collected these items to donate to a teacher at Hayes Bilingual School in Milwaukee.
North Shore Bank employees helped the school year start off right for teachers and students through the “Build a Teacher Box of Appreciation” Bank on Kindness® initiative. We asked branches and corporate departments to donate school supplies last month and assemble boxes of new supplies to give to teachers or schools of their choice. Your efforts enabled us to delight so many with this random act of kindness. And wow! Did you deliver!

Video Teller Department
The Video Teller Department selected Milwaukee Public Schools teacher Rebeca Soto to receive their donation of new school supplies. This is Rebeca’s fourth year teaching third-graders at Hayes Bilingual School. The Ashwaubenon branch brought a Teacher Box of Appreciation to Justice Hilgart, who teaches 4-year-old kindergarten at Beaumont Elementary School in the Green Bay/Ashwaubenon area. Corporate Office, 2nd Floor
The 2nd floor of the Corporate Office selected two teachers to receive Teacher Boxes of Appreciation containing school supplies and a $50 gift card to purchase more as needed. Claudia Heller De Messer, a teacher at Parkside School for the Arts (K-8th grade) in Milwaukee, was nominated by Chief HR Officer Molly Schissler. Lindsay Feiker, a fourth-grader teacher at Humboldt Park School in Milwaukee, was the second recipient. Two teachers were selected to receive appreciation boxes from the Northland Branch—Becca Beschta, a first-grade teacher at Sugar Bush Elementary, and Kelly Ambrose, a kindergarten teacher at Jefferson Elementary. Mrs. Ambrose expressed appreciation for the gift card. Human Resources and Business Banking
Human Resources and Business Banking teamed up and donated four boxes of school supplies to the Sonnenberg School in Racine, one of the few organizations in the country designed specifically to meet the needs of students on the Autism spectrum. Shorewood Feast gears up for fifth year of fun
Experience a deliciously fun time at the 5th Annual North Shore Bank Shorewood Feast. This family-friendly event offers a feast of flavors along with free entertainment and activities for the whole family, including the popular Adventure Rock climbing wall. There will be music, a harvest dinner, artisans, and more, and it all kicks off at noon on Saturday, Sept. 14.
The signature street festival is held from the 4200 to 4400 blocks of Oakland Avenue. Our North Shore Bank tent will be near the intersection of Lake Bluff and Oakland Avenue. We’re featuring our kindness postcards and coin banks to decorate, along with Giant Jenga and Connect 4.
Shannon Weber, AVP and Community Engagement and Shorewood Branch Manager, noted that the bank has been part of the Shorewood community for over 100 years and a proud title sponsor of the Shorewood Feast since its inception five years ago. Sponsoring the event is just another way the bank spreads its Bank on Kindness® initiative.
Families will find all sorts of fun things to do, including face painting, balloon creations, and a caricature artist.
A highlight of the event is always the Harvest Dinner, which takes place in the middle of Oakland Avenue. About 125 people have already purchased tickets for the sold-out dinner, which includes culinary treats from guest chefs like Kyle Knall (Birch) and Adam Pawlak (Egg & Flour).
But don’t worry! You won’t go hungry. Dozens of vendors will be providing delicious food to enjoy.
You won’t want to miss this event!

Pet Walk Ozaukee raises funds for Wisconsin Humane Society
Mequon Area Manager and Community Engagement Manager Farrah Mason and Fox Point Branch Manager Erika Smith shared bank giveaways with attendees at Pet Walk Ozaukee.
North Shore Bank staff showed their love for pets at Pet Walk Ozaukee on Aug. 24 .
Proceeds from the event, held at Rotary Park in Mequon, support the Wisconsin Humane Society. This is the first time the event was held in Mequon.
People were invited to bring their pets for a walk through the park paths, followed by music, vendors, demonstrations, food, activities for kids, and a doggie costume contest. 02930 Farrah Mason, Mequon Area Manager and Community Engagement Manager, said the walkers enjoyed the Polaroid photos that they took of their dogs!
