EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES

Get ready for North Shore Bank Night at Candy Cane Lane Nov. 29!

North Shore Bank is once again supporting Candy Cane Lane and will kick off the annual holiday lights display by hosting North Shore Bank Night on Friday, Nov. 29, from 6 to 10 p.m. The event runs from Nov. 29 through Dec. 25 at varying times. Check the Candy Cane Lane Calendar for times and additional information.

Candy Cane Lane is located in West Allis, from Montana Avenue on the north to Oklahoma Avenue on the south and from 96th Street on the west to 92nd Street on the east.

Candy Cane Lane volunteers in 2023 celebrate as they hit their first milestone of that season.

While viewing the sights and sounds is free, Candy Cane Lane is a fundraiser for the Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer (MACC Fund). We will be collecting donations that evening, and donations will be accepted throughout the run. The collection location is on 95th Street between Manitoba Street and Oklahoma Avenue.

Additionally, you and the community are invited to bring loose change to any North Shore Bank office for free coin counting and donate all or a portion of it to the bank’s annual “Change for Cure” donation drive from Nov. 29 to Dec. 24. 01344 The bank is matching donations made up to $1,000!

Last year, Candy Cane Lane raised $194,000 for the MACC Fund, and it’s raised more than $3 million since its inception! If you can’t attend but would still like to donate, please visit Candy Cane Lane’s website for the donation link.

We wish you a joy-filled holiday season!

NORTH SHORE STARS

Milosevich honored as Top Director in two categories

Erika Milosevich, VP, Investment Sales Manager, was named a 2024 Top Director in the Small Firms category and the Women-Led Firms category by the Kehrer Group in an awards ceremony on Nov. 7 in Raleigh, NC. Erika has led the Investment Services department for North Shore Bank since its inception 24 years ago.

“This is really a testament to the Investment Department team and the hard work they do every day helping our clients grow their assets and focusing on client goals and objectives,” Erika said.

Erika was selected for the honor from a field of 138 nominees across the financial institution insurance and securities community. Nominees were evaluated on 16 key criteria using a data-driven process that rewarded the performance of the director’s firm. You can learn more about the methodology behind the 2024 Top Directors Awards here.

The Top Directors Awards recognized investment services directors in banks and credit unions based on size, women-led firms, and emerging firms. Her nomination was announced last month.

Congratulations to Erika on this amazing achievement!

RETIREMENTS

Diana Villanueva to retire after a full career in banking

Diana Villanueva and her husband, Enrique, look forward to taking some short trips together in retirement.

Jackson Park Teller Diana Villanueva has been working in banking for as long as she has been married to her husband, Enrique—48 years! Diana, who started working right after high school, is retiring at the end of this month with a lifetime of good memories in this industry. Originally an employee of Layton State Bank, she started with North Shore Bank after the acquisition eight years ago.

Diana said she was interested in banking because she enjoys helping customers meet their financial goals. She likes getting to know her customers, and for the past two years, she’s been helping older adults at the Village at Manor Park senior living with their banking needs. “Most are not mobile enough to get to the bank, and some don’t have any family to help them,” she said.

Working alongside her North Shore Bank coworkers has been a pleasure. “They are all special and make it easier to work day to day when we work together as a team,” she said. “It is always nice when another team member helps out when one is having a difficult time.”

Jackson Park Assistant Branch Manager Claudia Romo-Verdin said Diana has always been a pleasure to work with and will be truly missed. “I “would like to thank Diana for her dedication all these years and her continued support in assisting with the Senior Center. I’m certain that our seniors will surely miss her,” she said. “The Jackson Park staff and I would like to extend our appreciation and best wishes for a happy and very well-deserved retirement.”

In retirement, Diana plans to spend more time with family, including her mother, who recently turned 90. She also looks forward to taking some short trips with Enrique, who has been retired for several years.

Congratulations on your long career, Diana, and enjoy your retirement!

HOLIDAYS

Employees share what they’re thankful for this year

Shorelines asked what employees are thankful for this holiday season. Here’s what your coworkers had to say.

Erica Kuik, ACH Representative

Gizmo

There is so much to be thankful for each and every day, and it would be a never-ending list. But one thing that I’m thankful for is my baby boy, Gizmo.

Anyone who knows me knows that this little 10-pound ball of fluff is my world. Some would even tell you I’m a little obsessed. He brings me so much joy, love, and excitement. Truly thankful that he came into my life.

Aubrey Abrahamson, Assistant Branch Manager

I am thankful for the relationships I have built both personally and professionally this year!

Nancy Hanson, Receptionist

Nancy celebrating her birthday with her family (L to R) Max, Leo, Mike, Nancy, Lisa, Matt, Emily, and Tory.

I am so thankful for my three sons, my daughter-in-law, and my grandkids.

Since I lost the love of my life almost three years ago, they have been my strength and encouragement, and they always inspire me to keep moving forward and never give up on life.

I could not have gotten through these past three years if it wasn’t for their love and support. I am so grateful and thankful for them.

Kate Knox, Marketing Communications Manager

Emily, Kate, and Brian Knox in Door County

I am truly thankful for the love and support of my wonderful family and friends, the strength my faith provides, and the blessing of good health.

As the holidays approach, I find myself reminiscing about those no longer here to celebrate with us. Their unconditional love, guidance, and the precious memories we created together remain a source of comfort and gratitude in my heart.

Beth Wianecki, AVP, Branch Operations Support Manager

I am incredibly thankful for my family and the life that I am lucky enough to have with them.

PROUD PARENTS

Dawn Conley’s son hits personal best in Madison Marathon

Dawn Conley and her fiancé, Mike (left), cheered on Dawn’s son Alex as he hit a personal best in the Madison Marathon.

Travelling Associate Banker Dawn Conley shared a fun story about her son, Alex, who completed the Nov. 9 Madison Marathon in under four hours! His prior best time was around 4 hours and 15 minutes in the Chicago Marathon, which he’s done twice.

“It’s unbelievable to me that he ran for four hours! Back in the day, when I was athletic, I ran sprints and relays and completed some long jumping. But running for 26 miles? No way,” Dawn said. “I’m proud of him!”

Getting around the route in Madison was much easier than it had been in Chicago, Dawn noted, and she and her fiancé, Mike, used an app to follow Alex as he ran. Thanks to the app, they could cheer him on from four different spots set up for spectators as he progressed through the run.

Alex before the marathon’s start

Dawn and Mike enjoyed the funny signs people hold up along the route, too. Signs saying things like, “Run, Forrest, run!” from “Forrest Gump” or “Don’t dishonor your family!” Alex said the encouragement and cheers along the way kept him motivated.

After the run, Dawn, Mike, and Alex grabbed a bite to eat, which was especially necessary for Alex. He burned 3,800 calories on the run and logged 44,000 steps! Congratulations to Alex on hitting a personal best and completing the Madison Marathon!
