In honor of AAP Recognition Day on Feb. 12, the bank wants to recognize ACH and Reconciliation Specialist Nancy Adamski, who became an Accredited ACH Professional in 2007. Nancy renewed her accreditation in December.
The ACH — or Automated Clearing House — section of our bank processed more than 4 million transactions last year. By becoming the bank’s only AAP, Nancy has demonstrated that she is part of an elite group of experts with an intimate understanding of her field.
The bank didn’t require Nancy to become accredited; it was her choice. “To protect the interests of our customers and to protect North Shore, it’s helpful to know all the rules and to keep up with all the changes in the system,” she says. “I just felt more confident doing my job.”
The initial accreditation meant taking a three-hour, nationally administered exam — an experience she’d prefer not to repeat, Nancy says, laughing. Maintaining her AAP status, which must be renewed every five years, means taking a certain number of credits of continuing education.
“Having an Accredited ACH Professional in-house provides a lot of expertise and efficiency in a very important part of our day-to-day transactions. The ACH area affects so many other parts of our business, from direct deposit of payroll to loan payments and bill pay,” says Lyneen Fischer, VP of operations channels. “Having Nancy’s education and experience at our disposal gives us greater operational efficiency, enhanced risk management oversight, improved regulatory compliance, and increased customer service and satisfaction. We’re very proud to have her as an AAP.”
