Get prepared now for potential weather emergencies

Mother Nature certainly seems to have a diverse view of what spring should be, with snow, rain, sun and tornadoes all coming from the same weather system. Typically, bad storms occur April through September. With the changes the Midwest has already experienced this spring, the potential for an active weather season could be high. That means it is time for a couple reminders!

You will begin to hear weather reports may contain terms such as watch or warning. The difference between the two is that a watch means conditions are right for severe weather to occur. A warning means severe weather (such as a tornado) has actually been spotted.

You and your managers have been asked to review during a staff meeting what to do if severe weather occurs. Make sure you know where to go, how to assist customers, and what to do with important documents and cash drawers. Now is the time to make sure your family knows evacuation procedures at home too. Do a walk-through with them, so everyone knows what to do. Be sure to check the contact numbers in your phone to make sure they are current.

Finally, make sure your contact information is up to date within UltiPro. Remember: If your cell and home phone numbers are the same, make sure that number is entered in both fields. This is uploaded into the automated notification system monthly. If it becomes necessary to activate it, it is important to have the most current contact information.

Here’s to a safe summer! Go Brewers!
