RAMAC blender. Regency hosted a business blender for Racine Area Manufacturers and Commerce on Jan 15. “The event went really well,” said Branch Manager Jenny Meyer. Vero International Cuisine catered, and bank customer Paul’s Pub provided beverages. Source 1 handled the music. About 90 people attended, including bank employees. “It was a great opportunity to meet Racine Businesses and introduce ourselves more in the community,” Jenny said.

Kudos

Tiny Paws Small Dog Rescue had complimentary words for Branch Manager Amy Sweet and her team at Union Grove. Through December, the branch sold paw ornaments to decorate its Christmas tree; customers could purchase an ornament at any price and put their name on it. The branch also offered gift wrapping during the two weekends before Christmas to raise more funds and collected items from the rescued dogs’ and cats’ wish lists.

Tiny Paws director Vicki Lorenz posted on Facebook:

Would like to thank Amy Sweet at North Shore Bank in Union Grove, Wisconsin for the Fundraiser she organized and ran for Tiny Paws. Happy to announce her efforts and those of the volunteer gift wrappers earned almost $289.00. Amy was very pleased with the results and plans on holding the event next holiday season. In addition she will keep us posted on events that take place in the City of Union Grove that may allow us to hold an Adoption or Fundraising Event.

In addition, for any of you looking to open a new account, North Shore is offering $100.00 when you open a checking or savings.

THANK YOU AMY!!! LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH YOU IN 2015.

Amy says: “The whole branch helped out — I just put it together. It was a fun time, and I am looking forward to working with them more in the future!”

Service Anniversaries

You can congratulate your coworkers on their anniversaries in the comments.

Jackson Park Branch Manager Shuron White marks 10 years with North Shore Bank this week. “Working at North Shore Bank has been a wonderful experience,” she says. Congratulations, Shuron!

North Shore Shape Up

Healthy foods to watch out for. Cutting unhealthy food out of your diet is a huge step — but you still have to be careful. Health.com has put together a list of healthful foods that are high in calories and will torpedo your attempts to lose weight if you eat too much of them. A few examples from the list:

Avocado — A single avocado can contain as many as 350 calories. Watch out for guacamole especially!

Nuts — Nuts are so rich with good nutrients, but they’re also packed with tons of calories and easy to gobble by the handful. Measure out a serving instead of “free-eating.” And stick with the best options, like almonds, cashews, and pistachios, raw or dry roasted (not in oil).

Smoothies — Sometimes what’s labeled a “smoothie” is more like a milk shake. Watch out for any smoothie that contains ingredients beyond unprocessed fruit, ice, plain yogurt, and unsweetened milk.

Yogurt — The kinds that come with fruit already mixed in are higher in calories and sugar. Your best bet is probably fat-free Greek yogurt — which is lower in sugar but contains more protein than regular yogurt — that you add fruit and honey to yourself.

With just any food (outside of some fresh vegetables), what’s really important is serving size. Pay attention to how much you’re putting in your body, and you’ll be eating happier and more healthfully.
