Bev Wendt retires, leaving behind happy memories

“The customers, they become family,” says Menasha Teller Bev Wendt, who retires on Saturday. “I’ve been invited to their parties, attended weddings and funerals, and shared in many happy and sad times with them.” She’s shared in some funny times, too. Like when she was working the drive-thru and thought she saw a poodle in the passenger seat next to a customer. “I asked if he wanted a doggie biscuit,” she says. “Turns out it was his mother, with big puffy hair!” Read more of Bev’s stories and wish her well in the comments!

Mortgage Corner: Must-have documents

Maybe you’re thinking of buying a new home, or maybe you know someone who is. Before anything else happens, prospective home buyers need to get approved for a mortgage. VP Chris Boland explains what documents you’ll need to bring with you when you meet your lender. Plus: North Shore Bank is offering free Get Smart Home Seminars in the coming weeks, and you can sign up for a one-on-one meeting with a loan specialist in your area during Mortgage Days from Apr 20 to 30.

Around the Bank

April Fools’ Day: The staff at Grafton had a little fun between customers on Wednesday, surprising Branch Manager Jon Coleman with a blown-up photo. (He’s got some magnetic “Buckyballs” hanging from his ear, and the thought bubble inspired by that accessorizing reads: I feel pretty, oh so pretty…) “I was very surprised but also highly amused!” Jon says. (Thanks to Teller Josie Schneider for the info.)

Mequon Spring Egg Hunt: Mequon invited kids and families to color eggs and enjoy other traditional vernal activities at the branch on Mar 28. Fittingly, the day also brought something new: It was the first time Seymour Savings appeared at Mequon. “Seymour was a BIG hit with all of our customers and with the passing cars outside,” reports Universal Banker Kayleigh Whitmore. “We had people pull over just to take a picture of him.” Above, the branch’s Sammi Montini, Kayleigh, Michele Padovano, and Gabby Leachmon pose with Seymour (played by Kayleigh’s boyfriend, Luis Rangel) at the event.

UPAF Ride: Attention, bicyclers — North Shore Bank is putting together a team for this year’s United Performing Arts Fund Ride for the Arts on May 31. If you don’t want to ride, you can also volunteer at the event. If you sign up before Apr 12, the bank will cover your registration fee and an immediate family member’s. For more information, download the flyer. The team will be raising funds at Corporate the week of Apr 20, with a pancake breakfast on Apr 20, a carnival and chili cook-off on Apr 22, and an ice cream social to say thank you on Apr 24. (Thanks to Mailroom Assistant Colleen Moore for the info.)

Branch of the Week

Ashwaubenon: Our Branch of the Week is run by AVP Mistine Thomson, who tells us about the good work her people are doing — plus which customer she has a little crush on, and what the staff’s favorite TV shows are.

North Shore Shape Up

Lyme disease season is coming: Lyme disease can be seriously debilitating if it’s not caught early, and Wisconsin is a high-risk state for infection. If you’re planning to get outdoors at all now that the weather is nice, you should know how to avoid, recognize, and treat the disease. Download this short, helpful pamphlet from the CDC.
