To prepare for the rollout of a new suite of business checking products, branch employees participated in a series of educational games and activities.
Each branch received a training kit containing daily activities that would help teach employees about the new products and processes, so that the employees could answer customers’ questions with confidence. A leader was chosen at each branch to supervise the fun.
The activities included:
- Hot potato
- Five-card stud
- A “Test Your Knowledge” fill-in-the-blank quiz
- “Two Truths and a Lie”
- Jeopardy!
- A crossword puzzle
Employees who successfully completed the activities received candy, colored paper clips, and McDonald’s coupons, as well as congratulations from their supervisors. Branches that complete all of the activities will be entered into a drawing to win lunch. A winner will be selected from each region.
“I joined Northland today, and the activity was so much fun!” DM Kerri Collins said. “I’ve never played poker before, and I ended up winning! (I did not claim the prize, though, and I encouraged the branch to use it another time.) A well-known customer was very impressed with how much fun everyone was having while learning something new. Such a great idea!”
Starting May 2, Business Banking will introduce the updated, more competitive suite of business checking products. The new products will be easier to understand, have less stringent minimum-balance requirements, and offer higher transaction counts for small-business owners. The monthly maintenance fees on these products will be simpler, but also higher, so that they are more in line with what our competitors charge. We’re also introducing a new Interest-Bearing Nonprofit Checking Account.
