North Shore Bank employees collected a ton of items to make Mother’s Day more special for some women in Wisconsin.

Our Sussex and Corporate offices gathered items for gift bags for low-income mothers, to be distributed by the Volunteer Organization of Women in Sussex. The items included purses, makeup, jewelry, toiletries, accessories, stationery and pens, and treats, among other things.

We accepted items from the public at Sussex, and Corporate held an office collection in conjunction with a casual day on April 22. The Corporate Community Outreach Committee’s goal was to collect 25 purses to fill with other gift items.

And we almost doubled that, collecting 48 purses, as well as $400 in cash donations.

“Holy cow! This is so awesome,” wrote Sussex Branch Manager Candy Walecki, who supervised the donation drive. Her branch collected two boxes of goods. “This is going to be the best year ever for Mother’s Day in Sussex.”
