What’s your favorite holiday gift? Share it with us!
Do you have a favorite holiday gift ever? Maybe it was a beloved toy given to you as a child — or a fabulous surprise vacation you got as an adult. Or perhaps it wasn’t even something you ever received, just a dream present you still think about.

You can share a few words about your special gift — and a picture if you have one! — using the form here or by emailing shorelines@northshorebank.com. We’ll publish the responses next week in Shorelines.

Appleton Christmas parade draws crowd of 80,000
About 80,000 spectators came out for the 46th annual Downtown Appleton Christmas Parade on November 22, which included participants from North Shore Bank’s Northland branch and Branch Administration department.

At left is Northland branch manager Heather Starr’s daughter Libby, with her friends Nora and Isabella.

Take a look at these photos of some of the North Shore kids who took part.

North District managers meet and bowl
North District managers met at Chuck’s Dyckesville Bowl in Luxemburg on December 6 to talk business and knock down some pins, reports district manager Kerri Collins.

Kerri, Sharon Hack of Green Bay West, Becky, Katie Presser of Pulaski, Heather Starr of Northland, Tavie, Mickey Adams of Allouez, and Menasha’s Deb Cumming, ready to roll.

“The morning consisted of some peer-to-peer sharing on several important topics,” Kerri says. “A yummy lunch was served — including Chuck’s world-famous cheese curds — and then we hit the lanes in our ugly Christmas sweaters.”

She adds: “We will not be quitting our day jobs in the near future to go on tour.”

Sturgeon Bay East’s Becky Kolstad won the first game, and Howard-Suamico’s Tavie Folk won the second. •••

“Santa Claws” sighting at Fox Point
Fox Point branch manager Carol Bergen writes:

One of my longtime customers has been losing her sight over the past few years, and now has a service dog who is one of our best-behaved customers.

The customer sent Carol the photo above, with a note: “My seeing-eye dog picked out this Santa hat, and she is all dressed up for the holiday festivities and the snow.” The customer has banked with North Shore for 18 years, and her companion is a golden retriever. Happy howlidays! •••

It’s always exciting to add new members to our team. Here are some of the fresh faces at North Shore Bank.

El Rey teller Brenda Hernandez Alcaraz is from Michoacan, Mexico, and previously worked as a sales associate at RadioShack. One interesting thing about her? “I can bend my pinky backwards,” she says.

Allouez assistant branch manager–sales Jim Zuehlke is a Wisconsin native who currently lives in Seymour. Before joining the bank, he was a Realtor for RE/MAX in Appleton, and worked for Andrews Federal Credit Union for nine years before that. Jim lived in Germany for 12 years and is an Army veteran who was deployed to Iraq twice. •••

North Shore Shape Up: 8 foods that dogs should avoid

Dogs love to eat. (We know a Goldendoodle who recently snacked on half a string of plastic Christmas lights.) But there are some common human foods and ingredients they should stay away from. Here are eight of them, courtesy of Berkeley Wellness.

Upcoming Events
Howard-Suamico hosts a holiday open house tomorrow, Friday, December 16, from 2 to 5pm, in support of House of Hope, a shelter for young homeless moms and kids. Visitors can bring in their gifts to be wrapped and donate money and gifts (suggestions here) to the shelter. Kids will be able to visit with Santa Claus and get a free reindeer nose while supplies last, and there will be treats. More upcoming events here.
