Sussex fetes Walecki as she readies to retire

As we reported back in September, when she marked 40 years with North Shore Bank, Sussex branch manager Candy Walecki will retire at the end of this year. Last Friday, December 16, the branch invited customers and colleagues to celebrate Candy’s career and wish her well. Take a look at some pictures from the event and a poem that sums up so much of Candy’s service.

Corporate employees celebrated the winter holidays last week with a How the Grinch Stole Christmas! theme. The Whoville Holiday Celebration featured food, fun, and plenty of giving. Read more and see a few pictures from the party.
Santa stops at Franklin party
Santa (customer Dan Herrmann) visited Franklin for the holiday party and saw Stephanie (seated), teller supervisor Maria Mejia, and teller Valerie Kochanski.
The Franklin branch held its holiday party on December 10, reports assistant branch manager–sales Stephanie Bluemel. The branch raffled off a $50 North Shore Bank gift card and collected food for the St. James Catholic Church food pantry. There were also crafts for the kids who came in and treats, too. •••
New Northland video tellers ready to go

Northland teller supervisor Katie Van Schyndel and universal banker Patt Kox are preparing to take on their new split roles as video tellers. “They painted the new office with magnetic paint to hold up our new signage, and are taking other steps to get the office all ready to go,” reports branch manager Heather Starr. Plans are for the branch’s video teller unit to be up and running in early January. •••

North Shore Shape Up: Foods could trigger headaches
In a larger post about headaches and how to prevent and treat them, Berkeley Wellness notes that many people believe certain foods can trigger migraines or lesser headaches in some people. These foods include: aged cheeses, caffeinated drinks, alcohol (especially red wine), freshly baked yeast products, chocolate, nuts, peanut butter, yogurt, sour cream, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, and cured or processed meats.
“Some of these may trigger headaches because they contain substances that dilate blood vessels in the brain,” the post says. “Major culprits are tyramine and other ‘amines’ (found naturally in many foods), nitrites (used in cold cuts and hot dogs), and sulfite preservatives (in dried fruit and wine).” •••
