Dash for Cash raises $11,500 for Green Bay schools

Ready…set…

North Shore Bank and the Green Bay Gamblers helped Green Bay–area schools raise $11,500 at the hockey team’s game on January 28, when local teachers took part in a fun, frenzied Dash for Cash.

Between periods, 28 teachers clad in North Shore Bank T-shirts raced to grab as much as they could of $7,500 in singles placed at center ice. With no time limit on the action, the educators got to pick up as many bills as they could manage. Read more about the event and see more photos here.

West Allis rocks the lanes

Shannon, assistant branch manager Cathy Swanson (with son Hunter), MLK branch manager Krystynn Taylor, personal banker Shannan Mahloch, Fabion (holding the ball) and teller Lisa Gagliardi.

“With the holidays behind us, West Allis thought it was the right time to get together and have a fun bowling event,” reports branch manager Shannon Weber. She also notes that the trip, to New Berlin Bowl on January 22, was a landmark occasion for teller Fabion Shkreli: “It was his first time bowling EVER. We had a great time, some great food, and enjoyed having some friends come along as well.” •••

North Shore Shape Up: Protect teens who date
Aurora EAP reports that one-third of high school students experience some kind of dating violence. Fortunately, there’s a lot parents can do to prevent that:

First, look for these common warning signs of dating abuse:

  • An abuser displays extreme jealousy or insecurity, offers constant belittling or put-downs, and exhibits an explosive temper.
  • An abused person often exhibits gradual isolation from family and friends.
  • Abusers are typically possessive and tell the abused partner what to do. They may also repeatedly pressure their partner to have sex.

You can take steps to make a difference:

  • One of the most important things you can do is keep the lines of communication open with your kids.
  • Be a role model: Treat your kids and others with respect.
  • Start talking to your kids about healthy relationships early — before they start dating.
  • Get involved with efforts to prevent dating violence at your teen’s school.

If you are worried about your teen, call the National Dating Abuse Helpline at 866.331.9474, text “loveis” to 22522, or visit breakthecycle.org. Aurora EAP is also here to help at 800.236.3231. •••
