If you suffer from seasonal allergies, you might not be excited about spring’s arrival. Cleveland Clinic Wellness offers two tips that could help.
First, try nasal irrigation — rinsing your nasal passages with warm, sterile salt water. “The practice may feel odd at first,” the clinic says, “but that’s because your sinuses are still irritated. As they heal, you should be able to tolerate the practice much better.”
Second, try to reduce your stress level. That may sound frivolous or unlikely, but, the clinic says, “Emotional stress has real, physical effects, including raising levels of epinephrine, a type of adrenaline that your body makes to fend off allergies. When you’re perpetually stressed, soaring epinephrine levels can make it hard to recognize allergens.” Practices like meditation or yoga could help with your allergies, along with delivering other benefits.
