Layton Park teller supervisor Nancy Holzberger has no regrets about her retirement tomorrow.

Nancy Holzberger retires tomorrow, April 28.

“It’s time!” she says. “Enough with working — I’ve been working since I was 15 years old.”

Nancy started working for Layton State Bank in August 2000, after responding to a job posting. She’s worked in banking since 1980 and was still at Layton State when they merged with North Shore Bank this past December.

“The merger was a little rough the first month or so, because it happened so fast,” she says. “But then it was real good!”

Nancy takes with her almost 17 years of good memories, and leaves behind colleagues who will ably continue to carry the torch.

“I have worked with a lot of associates in my time here, all different in their own ways,” she says. “I must say that the group I work with now is by far the best — all willing to help each other and work as a team.”

The feeling is mutual.

“When I think of Nancy, the word professionalism comes to mind,” Greendale branch manager Debbie Cottone says. “Nancy always made a commitment to being the best that she could be and doing the best that she could do, in all aspects of her job and in her relationships with customers and her peers. We wish her happiness and health in her retirement!”

“I worked with Nancy for about 16 years,” says West Allis branch manager Marie Cruz. “She has always been a pleasure to work with. She was a hard worker, and she was very patient with me during the transition from Layton State Bank. Nancy is loved by her co-workers and by her customers. She will be dearly missed.”

Nancy has three major plans for her post–North Shore Bank life.

First, she says, “I plan on sleeping past 6 a.m. Yeah!”

Second, she’ll do more traveling with her husband, Connie. They’d like to get down to Georgia and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and up to Connie’s hometown in Long Island, New York. “He’s also got family in Maine, so we’ll go out there,” Nancy says.

And third, she wants to spend more time with her granddaughters: Moon, Breanna, and Taylor.

“It’s going to be awesome,” Nancy says. “I’m ready to go. I’m excited to spend some time with my husband — and hopefully we have many more years together.”
