Green Bay East staff put on pink to help fight breast cancer

Commercial banker Steve Rewolinski, assistant branch manager–sales Will Roberts, Kari, assistant branch manager–operations Diane Leiterman, and retail branch operations manager Tricia Cravillion wearing pink at Green Bay East last week.

Green Bay East employees wore pink on October 19 in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. “Customers responded really positively,” teller Kari Tuyls reported. “Some shared their stories about having breast cancer or family members or friends who were affected by it.” Kari passed along some facts about the disease:

  • Each year in the United States, more than 200,000 women get breast cancer and more than 40,000 women die from it.
  • Men also get breast cancer, but it is not very common. Less than 1 percent of breast cancers occur in men.
  • Most breast cancers are found in women who are 50 years old or older, but breast cancer also affects younger women.
  • About 10 percent of all new cases of breast cancer in the United States are found in women younger than 45.

If you haven’t had a mammogram recently, schedule an appointment with your doctor soon! Cancer is much easier to treat when it’s caught early.
