Loyalty survey: Employees, online banking matter
You matter to our customers. That’s the takeaway from our most recent customer loyalty survey, deployed to 17,800 North Shore Bank patrons in November. The 1,130 people who responded made it clear that they choose and recommend our bank in large part because our employees differentiate us from the competition.

“Half of the responses mention our friendly, helpful attitudes, our smiles, and the fact that we know people by name and know their needs,” said Sue Doyle, SVP, retail banking. “Customers say they value proactive conversations about how they can save time and money and meet their financial goals. They appreciate working with knowledgeable people.”

Customers also appreciate North Shore Bank’s responsiveness — they expect a personal touch and are unhappy when we fail to get back to them. “So every employee needs to be diligent about returning calls the same day and providing accurate information on a timely basis,” Sue said. Staff raise money after fire destroys cleaner’s home

Mailroom assistant Colleen Moore (left) and Corporate receptionist Nancy Hanson present Stella with a check for the money collected to help her and her family.

Corporate employees took up a collection and raised over $1,100 to help Stella Olson, who worked at the office as a cleaning person for many years, and whose Brookfield home was recently destroyed in a house fire.

“Stella hadn’t cleaned at the bank for about five years, but those of us who knew her were shocked and saddened to hear about the fire, and we wanted to help,” said Kate Knox, AVP of marketing communications.

Stella visited Corporate on Monday to pick up the money collected for her. “She was her positive self, reassuringly saying that they would be alright,” Kate said. “She graciously accepted the collected donations and was grateful and humbled by the support. Everyone was thrilled to see her, and she was quick to dish out hugs.”

At 80 years old, Stella still works at St. Camillus retirement home.

“She’s a genuinely good person who took it upon herself to look after everyone like family,” Kate said. “She would go out of her way to watch you walk to your car after hours, ask how your kids and grandkids were doing, and pass along a big smile when she saw you.”

If you want to help Stella and her family, a GoFundMe drive has been set up. If you know someone who may want to help Stella, please share this link with them. •••

North Shore Shape Up: Join Weight Watchers today
Go freestyle!
In December, Weight Watchers announced a new program called WW Freestyle. It offers more flexibility and freedom than ever before! Here’s how it works:

Now, over 200 foods have a SmartPoints value of 0, including some surprises like chicken, fish, eggs, corn, beans, and more! The best part? Foods on the zero Points list don’t need to be tracked or measured, so you can spend less time counting and more time enjoying your food and your life!
If one of your New Year’s resolutions is to lose weight, then Weight Watchers Freestyle is the program for you. It’s not too late to join the next 12-week session of Weight Watchers At Work, which starts January 26.

Anyone can join. If you are at a branch, you may sign up through the Corporate At Work group and then attend a Weight Watchers meeting in your area, at your convenience.

The cost is $156 for 12 weeks, which includes 14 weeks of free e-tools.

If you are at Corporate, you may attend a free meeting tomorrow, Friday, January 19, at 11 a.m. in the Lower Level Lounge.
