From HR: Job shadows help you learn about roles, opportunities

By Molly Schissler, SVP, Human Resources & Compliance

Have you thought about attending a job shadow, but weren’t sure what it would be like? Job shadows are for anyone to attend — whether you have an interest in actually doing a particular job in the future or not, they can give you a better understanding of how your role interacts with and benefits from other positions and departments at North Shore Bank.

Here are some comments from previous job-shadow participants:

Tiffany Pennington, universal banker, Green Bay West: “I had a great experience during my job shadow. I got very good insight into the mortgage loan officer position, and it helped me to decide it was a career path I’m interested in pursuing. Chris Boland went out of his way to make sure I understood what was going on. Former MLO Cari Notz did a great job as well, explaining the application process. Overall, it was really good!”

Merissa Modory, branch manager, Regency: “I absolutely love job shadows! I love seeing the possible growth opportunity and seeing how different departments work. I also think job shadows are very eye-opening. Sometimes when we need an answer or something done by another department, we do not necessarily know what is involved in helping us. Learning everything each department does helps us appreciate each department more! I would highly recommend the job shadows, and I tell people outside the company about the great programs we have here at North Shore Bank! I believe more employees should take advantage of the program.”

Brittany Gay, universal banker, Howard-Suamico: “I did the marketing job shadow awhile ago. I very much enjoyed it and was very happy that I did it. It was so awesome to see what goes on in other parts of the bank and how that relates to things we do in our branches. At the time that I attended, they were working on the transition from Ecos to Metabank prepaid cards and figuring out what needed to be done for the transition. They were also planning a couple of checking promotions. It was just awesome to see how different departments work together to achieve success for the bank as a whole!”

Job shadow opportunities are listed in KnowledgeBank.

We encourage everyone to take part in a job shadow. If you don’t see a job or department listed that you are interested in learning about, please contact Milene Below to make your suggestion at mbelow@northshorebank.com.
