Colleagues honor Erica Johnson for 30 years of service
Checking service manager and AVP Erica Johnson celebrated 30 years of service with North Shore Bank last week. Colleagues from her department and elsewhere in the bank gathered to enjoy cake, cupcakes, and conversation.
“Thirty years ago, George Michael released a hit song called ‘Faith,'” said Erica’s manager, VP and security/payments manager Lyneen Fischer. “It’s fitting, because of Erica’s faith in her co-workers, the bank, her customers, her friends and family — and of course, her faith in herself. She has succeeded in every role she’s held here, from teller, to supervisor, to loan servicer, to branch manager — and now her current role managing the checking account department.”

Maribeth Osmundsen celebrates 25 years of success
“There’s a lot to remember and a lot to do, so each day is challenging — which is always good!” says loan servicing team leader Maribeth Osmundsen of her job. “It keeps your mind fresh.” She celebrates 25 years with North Shore Bank this month.
After nearly 20 years of success working at and managing our Union Grove branch, Maribeth moved to Corporate in February 2012. While she does miss the people and customers at the branch, she says, it’s been a worthwhile change. Read more about why and about her many achievements!
Racine sales team gets ‘Beastly’ for Zoo Debut gala
The bank’s Racine sales team attended the Racine Zoo Debut last Saturday, September 8. The annual gala marks the end of the summer season for the zoo, where North Shore Bank sponsors the Giraffe Encounter. This year’s theme was “the Beastly Ball,” and attendees showed up in black-tie attire and animal prints.
“The event is always beautiful and so much fun to share with the sales team in the Racine area,” said area branch manager Lisa Brooks. “We work so hard on our partnership with the zoo all season, and this is a fun night to celebrate that together. We get to shake hands with influential people in our community and let them know about North Shore Bank and the great people who work here.”

Sun makes for beautiful day at Racine car show
Racine employees staffed a table at the Racine Zoo’s 23rd annual Car, Truck & Bike Show on August 19. They talked to members of the public, handed out North Shore Bank–branded goodies, and let folks know about our checking and lending offers.
“The event was a success, and employees had a great time talking with people about their vehicles and about the bank,” area branch manager Lisa Brooks said. “The weather was gorgeous! We took advantage of that to wear our new NSB sunglasses in the sunshine.”
Pictured above at the show are Regency teller supervisor Mandy Crain, Westgate teller Sonya Ramirez, Regency personal banker Ashley Singstock, and Northside assistant branch manager–sales Cathy Straka. North Shore Shape Up: Got bad breath? Try ginger
If you’re worried that your breath might not smell great, and you don’t care for mints or gum, Cleveland Clinic Wellness reports on an all-natural alternative: just a little bit of ginger. Here’s the scoop:
In a recent study, researchers found that ginger can neutralize the compounds that lead to stale, stinky breath. An active component in ginger known as 6-gingerol causes an enzyme in saliva to increase; the enzyme breaks down sulfur-containing compounds that smell bad and eliminates the lingering aftertaste of coffee and other foods.
The clinic notes that “a little goes a long way” and advises either chewing on a sliver of fresh, peeled ginger or making ginger tea by letting a few slices sit in a cup of hot water for 10 minutes. The clinic adds: “To get rid of vampire-caliber garlic breath, you need to switch tacks — try eating some apple, a mint leaf, or lettuce.” •••
