Some spooky (and sweet) stories for Halloween

We got some fun responses to our call for spooky stories last week. Click here for unsettling tales and fun memories from Stephanie Hallgren, Susan Liedel, Kelly Doucette, and Robin Callis. Hope everyone at the bank has a happy — and not too haunted — Halloween!

Employees don blue to cheer on Brewers

Bank employees showed their support for the Milwaukee Brewers over the last couple of weeks, as the Major League Baseball team vied for victory in the NL Championship Series and the chance to go to the World Series. It wasn’t enough, alas — the Los Angeles Dodgers took down our hometown heroes 5-1 last Saturday, October 20. But you all looked great in blue regardless! We also raised another $185 for the Brewers Community Foundation, for a total of more than $600.

Dressed up along with Dilbert during the first week were IT team members Bryan Peters and Dorothy Beringer in front, and Dan Fregoso, Jason Roloff, and Wendy Repka in back. And here are more photos of everybody in their Brewers Day getups.

Green Bay West celebrates Thompson’s 10th year

The team at Green Bay West celebrated assistant branch manager–sales Hali Thompson’s 10th anniversary with North Shore Bank with dinner at Red Lobster last Friday, October 19.

“It was great! We went for the Endless Shrimp, and I think everyone got their money’s worth!” Hali said. She adds, “It definitely doesn’t feel like it’s been 10 years. I honestly feel like it was just yesterday that I started. Everyone really spoiled me, with flowers, candy, a cake made by Tiffany Pennington, and a customized shirt of Ed Sheeran — who I saw on Saturday in Minnesota. I’m so grateful that I get to work with my awesome team every day, and I love being able to help customers with their goals.”

Pictured at dinner are Hali (with her shirt), teller Shanna Krause, Hali’s husband Cy, universal banker Tiffany and husband Travis, branch manager Sharon Hack’s husband Steve and Sharon herself, and universal banker Leigha Johnston. •••

New Hires for October 25
It’s always exciting to add new members to our team. Here are some of the fresh faces at North Shore Bank.

Sussex universal banker Cheri Hennes is from Pewaukee and previously worked as a sales specialist for American Family Insurance agent David Kaiser in Oconomowoc. Cheri is married and has a spunky 5-year-old daughter and a very busy 2-year-old son. “We usually spend our weekends visiting family,” she says. “I have a passion for animals, and horses in particular have a special place in my heart.”

Consumer credit analyst Todd Kruse is from Wauwatosa and previously worked for Wells Fargo and Chase Bank. Todd enjoys aviation and all things related, and is working on getting his private pilot’s license. He’s got about 10 hours left to go and hopes to wrap it up this year. After that, the sky’s the limit! “For now, I would like to try more of the airports in Wisconsin, and from there expand to longer routes,” he says. “Perhaps out west!” •••

Video tellers fete Soto for birthday

The video tellers celebrated their former supervisor and new Brookfield Square assistant branch manager–sales Karina Soto’s 25th birthday on Monday with lunch from Naf Naf Grill and cake. “The party was great,” Karina said. “I knew they were planning on buying me lunch, but I did not expect anything else. We had cake and snacks. I also received flowers from Erika Garcia and my boyfriend. I feel so spoiled.” •••

North Shore Shape Up: Best heartburn treatments
If you’re suffering from heartburn on a regular basis, Harvard Health has some advice for you on the best ways to treat it:

The fastest treatment is to neutralize the acid already in the stomach and lower esophagus by taking an over-the-counter antacid. While antacids work within minutes, they often don’t last, so you may have to take repeated doses until symptoms subside.

For longer-lasting relief, you can try an H2 blocker, which stops stomach cells from making acid. There are several over-the-counter brands of H2 blockers, such as cimetidine (Tagamet), famotidine (Pepcid), nizatidine (Axid), and ranitidine (Zantac). Generic versions also are available. H2 blockers come as a pill, liquid, or chewable or effervescent tablet. Most people react well to all of them.

The blog notes that H2 blockers take a little while to kick in, and that if neither of these options works, you can try a proton-pump inhibitor like Prevacid or Prilosec. If none of these solutions improves your heartburn within 10 days, make an appointment with your doctor. •••

Upcoming Events
The “Night of the Ghost Train” Celebration takes place on Halloween, next Wednesday, October 31, in Shorewood and is sponsored by North Shore Bank.
