Winter doesn’t deter scuba diver Roger Arnesen one bit
For most of us, winter means staying warm and dry and cozy indoors. But for help desk manager and scuba diver Roger Arnesen, it’s the best time of year to get in the water.
“It’s much nicer in the wintertime, because the water clarity is better,” he says. “Also, you can bring your gear right up to the hole and leave it on the ice, and not have to walk a block from the car carrying all this heavy stuff.” Read more about Roger’s scuba experiences!

Staffers pass out Gamblers hats
Bank employees helped out at the Green Bay Gamblers Hat Night on February 1, handing out free headwear to the first 1,000 people through the gates for the hockey game. “The fans were excited to get some free merchandise and proudly show off their support for the Gamblers,” Green Bay East universal banker Kari Tuyls reported.
Kari, in the blue North Shore Bank shirt, is pictured up top with Ashwaubenon teller Nicole Moore and Nicole’s daughter Makiyah, who also passed out hats, along with Kari’s son Max. The kids are pictured above with Gamblers mascot Ace the bobcat. •••

New Hires for February 7
It’s always exciting to add new members to our team. Here are some of the fresh faces at North Shore Bank.
Shorewood personal banker Jazzmen McCallister lives in Milwaukee and previously worked for Mandel Group. Jazzmen has an identical twin and volunteers at an animal shelter on weekends. “I’m an ‘animal socializer,’ which means I calm down frightened animals by petting them, going for walks, and giving them human interaction,” she says. “I love being able to comfort them and make them feel loved. Making the animals’ day a little better is always my goal.” •••
North Shore Shape Up: Sleep vital for heart health
Eating right and regular exercise are important, but new research makes clear that getting enough sleep is essential, too, particularly for avoiding heart disease, Cleveland Clinic Wellness reports:
Nearly 4,000 adults without known heart disease wore a device that tracked their movement and sleep for a week, and then underwent heart CT scans and ultrasounds. Researchers found that the participants who slept less than six hours were 27 percent more likely to have plaque buildup in the arteries (otherwise known as atherosclerosis) throughout their bodies than those who slept between seven and eight hours. And those who had poor-quality sleep were 34 percent more likely to have atherosclerosis compared with those who had high-quality sleep.
To improve your “sleep hygiene,” make an effort to go to bed and get up at the same time every day, avoid staring at electronic screens while you wind down, don’t eat heavily before bedtime, and limit your caffeine and alcohol consumption, especially at night. Aim to get between seven and eight hours of shut-eye, and you’ll be good to go! •••
