Cristo Rey students, supervisors recognize a year of great work

Last year, four Cristo Rey Jesuit High School students joined North Shore Bank as interns, as part of the school’s acclaimed work-study program. They’ve been at the Corporate office for one or two days each week since September.

With the end of the academic year approaching, we’ll say goodbye to these talented young people. In honor of their work, here are a few words from the students and their supervisors from the past year.

Erick Chavez, Commercial Banking

“Working at NSB was a excellent experience,” writes Erick, pictured above with lending sales specialist Jody Moore. (He also worked with SVP commercial banking manager Margaret Capper.) “My supervisor as well as the rest of my coworkers were amazing and very supportive. I had a lot of fun working here, and although it was sometimes repetitive, I got to learn a lot about the sites used like Nautilus and Cleartouch. It was also interesting to learn about what it’s like working and seeing the ‘behind the scenes of a bank.’ I also really enjoyed working here because most of the work was independent. I really enjoyed working at NSB and hope to come back here next year.”

“It’s been such a pleasure to have Erick on our Business Banking team this year,” Jody says. “His dedication and work ethic have been a tremendous asset to the department. The queue of daily priorities can change on a dime, and Erick has done a great job in moving from one assignment to another. Throughout the year we’ve also seen him open up a bit more (we can be a crazy team), allowing us to get to know him and likewise, him getting to know us. We sincerely hope he’ll be back with us again in his junior year!”

Victoria Valdivia, Marketing

“Working at North Shore Bank has been a great experience,” writes Victoria, pictured above with product and channel marketing manager Karen Degarmo and office services specialist Sheri Livermore. “I’ve learned a lot of new things on how banks work and have a better understanding now. I have really enjoyed working here, and I am very thankful for everything.”

“It has been a pleasure to work with Victoria and get to know her,” writes Karen. “Her work on our creative assets and card designs, as well as many of our events, has had a positive impact on the organization. Thank you and enjoy the summer with your puppy!”

“I hope you’ve enjoyed learning about marketing event preparation and mailings at North Shore Bank, along with the many other things we do in the marketing department,” Sheri says. “Thanks for your help this school year.”

Jonathan (Nathan) Andrade Placencia, Loan Administration

“My time here at North Shore Bank has been a delightful experience and one that I will never forget,” writes Nathan, pictured above with VP loan operations Nicole Daniels.. “This workplace helped me strengthen my will to always do the right things wherever I go. The people here are professional, and just blending in adds a component to myself as a growing professional as well. I view the business as a big group of the hardest workers I know. When I first came here, I did not know what to do besides ask questions — and those questions seriously helped me a lot. Once I got used to a safe environment of extremely nice people, I legitimately looked forward to working. North Shore Bank has helped me grow in too many ways, like being more flexible with my schedule, and even being dependable, etc. Thank you so much, team! I really enjoyed being here to see the smiles on everyone’s faces and to remember how I became a hard worker!”

“Nathan has been a pleasure to have in the office,” Nicole says. “He is professional, hard-working, and his written communication skills are quite advanced. Given his strong writing skills, Nathan created several wellness-related articles for Ask Seymour over the past few months. Nathan will thrive in whatever path he chooses as he has the positive work ethic, drive, and attitude to succeed!”

Suleima Sanchez-Herrejon, Customer Support Center

“North Shore Bank has given me the inspiration to be passionate about learning new things,” writes Suleima, pictured above with deposit operations team lead Kristin Hoch and deposit services manager Natalie Canadeo. “I couldn’t be happier to be back a second time. I love this place!”

“Suleima is a hard worker and is always willing to help with any task or project we throw her way,” Kristin says. And Natalie adds: “Suleima is a joy to have on our team. She is a dedicated employee who values quality and understanding processes.”
