Roxanna Bruss passes “grueling” CFP® exam
Roxanna Bruss helps North Shore Bank customers make smart investments every day — but she’s about to start seeing the returns on a big investment she made in herself.

In July, the investment consultant, who’s been with the bank since 2016, passed the exam to become a Certified Financial Planner™ professional. “Because of the dedication required, the CFP mark is the highest standard a financial planner can achieve,” Roxanna says. Read more about what her certification involved and means for her career.

Taste of Lake Country features food, fun in Pewaukee

Food and fun were in the air, as usual, at this year’s North Shore Bank Taste of Lake Country in Pewaukee on July 26 and 27. “There were lots of hungry people there, and our can koozies were a hot item for keeping drinks cold,” reported branch manager Anne Kagerah, pictured above at right with teller supervisor Sonnee Lozano.

Along with a selfie photo booth — where people could take pictures and then be entered to win a $50 gift card and North Shore Bank cooler after posting them on social media — we also had a spin-the-wheel game. Others who helped out at the event included district manager Cristen Baumann, personal banker Brett Brilowski, senior mortgage lender Stephanie Glowinski-Moeller, tellers Merry Justin and Megan Kubichek, and Anne’s husband, Gary. •••

Weber on BID board, Shorewood marks year at new site

There’s lots of cause for celebration over at the Shorewood branch, where branch manager Shannon Weber became a board member of the Shorewood Business Improvement District, and staff marked the one-year anniversary of their new location.

The Shorewood BID’s mission is to promote and develop the neighborhood to help local merchants thrive. The group is governed by the board. “I am very excited and honored about this opportunity to partner with the Village of Shorewood and other business leaders within the community,” said Shannon, who was also named treasurer and is pictured at center above with other board members.

Of the new location’s anniversary, she said: “The team and a few others took a moment to reflect over the last year at a dinner at the Three Lions Pub. It was a very nice evening, and we agreed we could not believe it has already been one year.” Pictured above at the pub are, from left to right: help desk technician Brandon McCullough, Bayshore personal banker Rhonda McKinnie, Shorewood teller Razalyn Brock (in front), teller supervisor David Holada, Shannon, Milwaukee Capitol personal banker Michael Chobanian, Shorewood personal banker Kenya Owens, universal banker Laura De Bruin, and teller Audrey Elliott. •••

New Hires for August 8
It’s always exciting to add new members to our team. Here are some of the fresh faces at North Shore Bank.

Northside teller Samantha Mickelson is from Bristol and previously worked at Olive Garden — “mostly for the breadsticks, of course,” she says. An avid concertgoer, she most recently saw Kiss in March and is going to see the Jonas Brothers in September. Of her favorite concerts, she says: “The first was one at Alpine Valley, where I saw Mötley Crüe open for Kiss; and the other one was the Fourth of July a few years ago at Summerfest, when Alice Cooper opened for Mötley Crüe. I’m sure you notice my two favorites include one band: my favorite, Mötley Crüe.”

Northland teller Alyssa Taylor is from Princeton and recently moved to Appleton. She was previously an assistant manager at Family Video and is also a student at UW-Oshkosh, working on a degree in fine arts with a 2-D emphasis. “I am obsessed with Christmas to the point of having a holly leaf tattoo on my wrist. I start decorating for it in early October at the latest,” she says. “I also love creating things and being crafty. I do counted cross stitch, sew, paint, sculpt, and make prints. And I just got back from Venice, Italy for a study abroad. I was there for half a month, got to see the Venice Biennale, and fell in love with gelato.” •••
