Robin Callis recounts her cruise down the Danube

Earlier this month, Burlington branch manager Robin Callis enjoyed a nine-day trip along Europe’s Danube River, traveling from Budapest, Hungary, to Regensburg, Germany, with husband Dwain and her sister and brother-in-law Dawn and Adam. Besides taking in the incredible architecture and some delicious meals, she managed to squeeze in a little North Shore Bank promotion as well — the group is pictured above in front of the rose garden of Austria’s Melk Abbey, wearing our branded shades.

“We all sported the North Shore Bank sunglasses and received many comments!” Robin says. She talked to Shorelines about her river cruise. Read more!

Burlington sponsors swimming, movie for anniversary

North Shore Bank sponsored a Free Swim + Movie Night at the Burlington Community Aquatic Center on August 16, in celebration of the Burlington branch’s 35th anniversary.

“Because of our sponsorship, they were able to waive the usual small fee and offer this event for free to the public,” branch manager Robin Callis said.

Over 160 people showed up to watch Moana and swim, she said. Kids in attendance also got tiny colored “finger lights” to play with and take home. “They were a big hit with the kids,” Robin said. •••

Andrew Torke now helms Sussex
New Sussex branch manager Andrew Torke lives in Franklin and previously worked in gaming operations at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino. Andrew first became a bank manager in 2004 and has since worked in both retail and corporate bank management positions. “I always knew I wanted a professional job where I would make an impact both on the company and community I worked for or in, and banking offers both with endless opportunity!” he says.

Andrew describes himself as “very much a hands-on leader” and says if he weren’t in banking, “I would probably be working in some sort of operational or analytical role with a company that supports financial institutions, maybe a third-party service provider of some sort.”

When he’s not working, he enjoys traveling to see new things and getting outdoors. “Last year, a group of us went backpacking in the Badlands for three days and three nights and ended up getting lost for what seemed like days,” he says. “At the time, it was frustrating and tiring, but looking back, the trip wouldn’t have been the same without the way things worked themselves out. Now we can laugh at it and say, ‘Remember that time when we got lost in the Badlands?'” •••
