North Shore Bank senior vice president Molly Schissler was one of six winners at the Milwaukee Business Journal’s 2019 HR Awards dinner on October 30. The annual awards honor individuals and organizations in the human resources field that contribute to the success of employers in southeastern Wisconsin.

Molly is in charge of HR, compliance, and facilities for the bank. President and COO Jay McKenna nominated her for the HR Awards in the medium-size company category. In a profile published by the Journal, she noted that her job is about both serving the company and serving employees. “It really is a balance,” she told reporter Sari Lesk.

Members of the HR team and other bank executives celebrated with her at the awards dinner at the Pfister Hotel.

“Molly’s innovations at North Shore Bank during a period of significant growth show her business acumen and passion for advancing employee engagement,” Jay said. “Nine years after her hiring, North Shore Bank is a seven-time Top Workplace winner and three-time American Banker ‘Best Banks to Work For’ honoree, with a steady increase in employee retention and innovative training, development, and recognition programs that rival those of much larger companies. Besides creating and upgrading new programs, facilities, and benefits for bank employees, she has managed HR matters for three significant acquisitions, serves as part of the bank’s senior management strategic planning team, and two years ago took on oversight of the bank’s regulatory compliance efforts — a rare role for an HR lead.”

“I am very honored to be recognized by Jay and that he took time to nominate me; it’s also fantastic peer recognition within the HR and business community,” Molly says. “It is another great reflection on North Shore Bank that Jay sees the good things happening here and wanted us to be recognized in this way. I am also extremely proud of my whole HR/training team.”
