Helping, learning, adapting: Learn how you can become a floater

By Craig Witz, VP, Branch Sales

“I love feeling so appreciated for the work I do. I also get to go on an adventure to different locations every day and get paid for it.” That’s what universal banker Tracee Born says she loves about being a floater.

Floating tellers and floating universal bankers are a key component of our branch staffing. If you’ve worked in a branch, you’ve probably had a day when you breathed a sigh of relief to have a floater there to help, when someone was out, on vacation, or at a meeting. As one floater puts it, “Walking into a branch and staff going ‘Yay! Help has arrived!’ is a good feeling.”

Right now, we are looking for floating tellers and UBs in all of our markets. You have an opportunity to join this team of “helper superheroes” by applying today.

It’s not just the feeling of being wanted and needed that floaters enjoy. As floating teller Ryan Alfaro comments, “What I enjoy the most about it is the change-up! Not only in staff, but also experiencing the different client markets across Wisconsin and adapting according to each of their needs. I like driving and seeing the landscape, and in this position I get to see different parts of Wisconsin I would not have if I were stationed at a single location.”

Another floater, universal banker DeDe Krause, puts it this way: “I like the variety. You get to see different branches and meet many people. The best part is when you go back to a branch and the customers remember you.”

Now more than ever, when staffing can change quickly due to the COVID-19 pandemic and people’s family and school responsibilities, we need a strong floating team to help us serve our customers at all of our locations.

Floaters typically earn a little more than personnel assigned to one branch, and mileage is paid for travel that is farther away than your designated “home” branch.

Branch ops support supervisor Beth Wianecki adds, “You have the opportunity to learn from more experienced peers and ultimately share in the knowledge they have. It really is a great way to expand on the knowledge you already have.”

If you are interested in becoming a floater, speak to your manager or talent acquisition manager Janet Rosenthal today. You too can be a helper superhero!
