Taco truck draws hungry visitors to North End
Members of the public stepped up to the La Villa truck for a bite to eat.
A 5-month-old Bernedoodle named Chewy was one of the cuter visitors drawn in by the truck. “He enjoyed chewing on wood chips. His name was very fitting,” district manager Cristen Baumann said.
The La Villa Mexican food truck set up shop outside our North End branch this past Monday, September 21, offering free taco lunches to the public, courtesy of North Shore Bank. Branch manager Ray Guardiola estimated that 50 to 60 people stopped for lunch. “Almost half the area residents who showed up also used our walk-up teller units and redeemed an instant-win prize,” he said. “Many were very excited about the new technology and free lunch, and walking away with a few extra bucks in their pocket was a perfect cure for the Monday blues.”
Besides being part of our Bank on Kindness initiative, the promotion was one of several to help bring people to the new branch. Through October 31, customers who visit North End can get up to $400 by opening a new checking account or a 1.25 annual percentage yield on a new 13-month certificate of deposit. •••
Guests have fun at Golfin’ on the Green
North Shore Bank’s table at Golfin’ on the Green included giveaways like tote bags, sunglasses, hand sanitizer, and golf tees, as well as advertising our latest promotion.
Muskego branch manager Stephanie Bluemel attended the annual Muskego & South Suburban Chamber of Commerce Golfin’ on the Green event on September 15. The golf tournament and patio party drew about 55 guests, down from the 150 or so who’ve shown up in past years when a pandemic wasn’t taking place, Stephanie said. •••

Swosinski earns praise after “hitting all the marks”
A customer had some very nice things to say about New Berlin branch manager Sara Swosinski and put them in a message for district manager Lauri Lunde:
I asked for your email so I could compliment the teller who waited on me. I am a firm believer in complimenting extraordinary service, as well as [calling out] poor service. In this instance, I stopped at a branch I don’t normally use and had the pleasure of Ms. Sara Swosinski’s assistance. Not only was she knowledgeable, engaging, and friendly, but her interaction was truly professional and she hit all the marks I expected and more, when doing a transaction that involved four figures. I have been banking with NSB for a number of years, and this is the second teller I have favorably emailed about. It is employees like Sara who are an extreme asset to your company and interact with the public daily and are the best marketing tool a company could ask for. At the very least, please extend a complimentary pat on the back, or more, as her commitment and investment with NSB is very apparent.
“Sara does a wonderful job with all of her customers, and this was exciting to receive,” Lauri said. “It made my day.” •••
Celebrate your Hispanic heritage with stories, photos
National Hispanic Heritage Month has begun. The annual event, which runs September 15 to October 15, honors the cultures of Americans with ancestors from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and South America. This year’s theme is “Hispanics: Be Proud of Your Past, Embrace the Future.”

New Hires for September 24
It’s always exciting to add new members to our team. Here are some of the fresh faces at North Shore Bank.
Green Bay West teller Yoselin Morales Gonzalez was born in Boston and raised in Green Bay — “so I’m a fan of both the Packers and the Patriots!” she says. She previously worked for Marshalls as a front-end coordinator. “I love being outdoors,” she says. “I usually go up north to jet-ski, fish, and swim with my boyfriend and friends. I also love traveling to California to visit my grandma. My favorite place to visit there is Santa Monica.”
Green Bay East teller Crystal Rivera Nazario was raised for half of her life in Puerto Rico and now lives in Green Bay. Along with working, she is attending online and hybrid classes at Fox Valley Technical College in pursuit of an associate’s degree in forensic science. “I love the hands-on parts of courses, such as fingerprinting, collecting evidence, and photo evidence. Also, it’s interesting learning how to solve crimes.”
Southridge universal banker Laura Tesch has lived in Milwaukee her whole life and previously worked at Prime Financial Credit Union for many years. “I left there because I was going to move to Florida, but then COVID happened and changed everything! Hopefully, I will get there someday,” she says. “I enjoy watching football and am really glad it is on, even though there are no fans in the stands. I’m sure we will get there too.”
Traveling teller Elizabeth White is from Waukesha and previously worked for the Club at Ibis, an award-winning country club in West Palm Beach, Florida. “Within the past seven years, I have lived in three different states (Florida, Colorado, Wisconsin), four different cities (Waukesha; Orlando and Palm Beach, Florida; and Aspen, Colorado), and I have had over 35 different roommates from seven different countries and ten different states,” she says. •••
Brookfield Square’s Cicona weds
Calvin, Penny, and wedding gifts.
Earlier this month, Brookfield Square employees celebrated universal banker Calvin Cicona’s marriage in August to wife Penny.
Cal says the surprise celebration began when branch manager Maria Baumer asked him to bring her some paper. “I thought nothing of it — I am right by the paper, and she’s across the branch from me,” he said. “I walked right by my desk, missing all the gifts, and started to load paper into her printer. I turned around to see everyone behind me.”
After that, he persuaded Penny to come down to the branch as well. “She loved that everyone cared so much,” he said. Congratulations to the newlyweds! •••
