Salon owner uses gift to care for clients
Here’s this week’s update on our Bank on Kindness campaign to spread happiness and goodwill in our communities.
Shorewood area branch manager Shannon Weber recently donated Bank on Kindness funds to the village’s Luxe Salon, after hearing from the owner, Caroline, about how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected business.
“Caroline decided to use the funds to make gift baskets of products for customers who may benefit from them,” Shannon said. “She was so excited about this idea and how it could be a small gesture of help.”
In other Bank on Kindness news… North Shore Bank is matching donations to Wisconsin food pantries throughout the month of February. Donations can be made online at give.mastercard.com/p/northshorebank, and will be matched by the bank, up to $500 per pantry. You can also get a link to donate by texting Kindness to 77948.
And the Muskego branch is collecting new and gently used shoes for the nonprofit Changing a Destiny. Read more about it here. •••
Mindful Minute: Center yourself with this body scan
People often worry that they aren’t meditating correctly or are concerned about not being able to concentrate during a session. But progress in meditation isn’t about performing at a certain “level” each day — it’s about frequency. If you can be mindful and can add more moments of mindfulness to your day, that is what will make all the difference.
This week, Pat Ingelse tells you about a body-scan meditation that will help you relax and provide a way of getting centered. Check it out!

It’s always exciting to add new members to our team. Here are some of the fresh faces at North Shore Bank.
Treasury solutions sales specialist Kay Orth was born and raised in Manitowoc and previously worked as a business development officer in merchant services at Tri City National Bank, where she spent almost seven years. “I love to travel,” she says. “When I was in London, I went to The Lion King and the person sitting next to me in the theater had on a Wisconsin T-shirt. He was there on a project with Deloitte. It’s a small world!” She also enjoys dining out and golfing. •••
Bluemel announces engagement
Muskego branch manager Stephanie Bluemel got engaged a year ago and has finally been able to schedule her wedding. “With the pandemic, it took a lot for us to figure out when to have it,” she says. “After much thought and back-and-forth, we officially booked the big day for this September. We know it still probably won’t be a ‘normal’ wedding, but we are making the best of it.”
Stephanie’s fiancé, Rafael, proposed last year in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. “My family got me out to the beach saying we were going to take family photos,” she says. “When I got down there, my little cousin was playing in the water and came running out with a box in his hand, saying, ‘Look what I found!’ When I turned around, that’s when my future husband was down on one knee.” Congratulations, Stephanie! •••
