NORTH SHORE STARS

ACH, Checking teams shine handling stimulus crush

While the COVID-19 pandemic has obviously been challenging for everyone, it had an especially large impact on a couple of North Shore Bank teams. Our ACH and Checking Services teams handled many issues relating to the three stimulus payments disbursed by the federal government.

“Each stimulus was a little bit of a different scenario,” said vice president deposit operations Jude Lengell. Americans received the first payment last spring, another at the beginning of 2021, and a third payment this spring. “But in all cases, several teams worked really hard to prepare and to make it seamless and easy for our customers.” Read more about their hard work now!

BRANCH NEWS

Howard-Suamico helps raise cash for South Sudan

Forest Glen students and teachers used Howard-Suamico’s coin-counting machine throughout the “penny war.”

Forest Glen Elementary students recently organized a school-wide “penny war” to raise funds for nonprofit Water for South Sudan. Students and teachers collected coins for the initiative and used the coin-counting machine at our Howard-Suamico branch to total their results.

The school ultimately raised $7,679.62, enough money to fund half of a water well in South Sudan. North Shore Bank is thrilled to have played a role in this important work! •••

KUDOS

Kudos: We have awesome people

“Your people were awesome,” wrote a couple who recently refinanced with another lender. They added that they switched lenders only because they were now too far away to conveniently do business with North Shore Bank in person. Keep up the great work, everyone! •••

BANK ON KINDNESS

ONE MINUTE OF MINDFULNESS

Acknowledge your power to take action and control

At times, we all feel as though life keeps piling up and wonder how we’ll be able to handle it all. But we always have options. Commit to taking concrete action — let go of half steps and halfheartedness — to make a positive change.

Try this meditation for one minute every day, or longer if you want to:

STOP AND TAKE a deep breath. Picture your courage and strength growing. Know you are empowered, and stay with that thought until you are excited to take control.

This meditation was adapted from A Mindful Day: 365 Ways to Live Life With Peace, Clarity, and an Open Heart, by David Dillard-Wright. How did it go for you? Share your thoughts and feelings in Shorelines and you’ll be entered to win a copy of the book!

If you’d like a daily email reminder to do one minute of mindfulness, email us with the subject “Mindfulness reminder.” Pat Ingelse, AVP and PMP •••
