Writing let Lancour raise awareness of global poverty
War takes more from us than the lives of soldiers. It also damages or destroys buildings, infrastructure, and economies. Area branch manager Carolyn Lancour dug into the links between war and poverty for one of the articles she wrote for the Borgen Project, which are now available online.

As we reported last autumn, Carolyn was selected for a 12-week internship with Borgen, a global nonprofit focused on fighting world poverty. Along with fundraising and contacting elected officials to lobby for foreign aid for poor countries, she also researched and wrote 10 articles for the online Borgen Magazine. Crowds were ready for return of Taste of Lake Country

In Pewaukee, North Shore Bank’s Taste of Lake Country roared back on July 30 and 31, after taking last year off due to the global pandemic. “Area folks were ready for good food and music,” branch manager Anne Kagerah said. “It was like covid never happened. However, we did spread out the food booths farther than normal for social distancing.”

Our tent on the beach offered high-top tables with charging stations for attendees’ mobile devices, as well as elegant white couches circling a coffee table that held a giant branded Jenga game. “We also had giant Connect 4, which was popular with the young and old,” Anne said.

The bank also held a Tasty Giveaway in conjunction with the event, giving community members the chance to win $300 in gift cards for the local restaurants participating in Taste of Lake Country.

Ann noted that putting together this big, popular event took a lot of hands and thanked VP marketing Kate Johnson, marketing communications manager Kate Knox, and the rest of the Marketing department, as well as SVP retail banking Sue Doyle, for all their work making Taste of Lake Country wonderful for customers and other Pewaukee residents. Positively Pewaukee and the NEWaukee agency also contributed essential components. And employee volunteers included Cristen Baumann, Milene Below, Angela Byrd, Jordan Daul, Erika Garcia, Ray Guardiola, Erica Hughes, Megan Kubichek, Anna Levine, Farrah Mason, Colleen Moore, and Sonnee Tobias, as well as family members and friends. •••

Fun abounds at Howard-Suamico, Packers Family Night

Howard-Suamico took part in Howard Suamico Daze, which ran from last Thursday, August 5, through Saturday, August 7, and gave local businesses a chance to promote themselves and reach out to the community. “The bank invited the community to join us in the branch to participate in some family-friendly activities,” area manager Katie Longsine said. “Kids had fun decorating their own piggy banks and playing games in the branch, and ice cream sundaes were enjoyed by all! After designing a bank and making a hole-in-one on the beanbag game, one of our young visitors told us, ‘This is the best day ever!’”

North District employees and their guests had fun at the Green Bay Packers Family Night scrimmage on Saturday, August 7, at Lambeau Field. “It was really neat to to be in the suite — I don’t think any of us had ever been in one before,” Allouez personal banker Aubrey Abrahamson said. “It was also cool to see the players all stretching and warming up together as a team. Before I went in, I watched as the players drove up and saw Mason Crosby, Aaron Rodgers, and David Bakhtiari!” •••

Reminder: $2,500 referral bonus
Reminder! We’ve got a nice job referral bonus for positions at our branches and in the Call Center. Starting today through the end of September, you can earn $2,500 if you refer a qualified candidate for a branch or Call Center job and they are hired. New Hires for August 12
It’s always exciting to add new members to our team. Here are some of the fresh faces at North Shore Bank.

Green Bay West teller Vicky Hrabik was born and raised in Green Bay and previously worked as a certified pharmacy technician; she was at St. Vincent Hospital for over 25 years. “We have a log cabin in Crivitz that we enjoy going to with family and friends,” she says. “We enjoy outdoor activities and have a huge garage full of games, as well as a jukebox with a variety of music. Family and friends are very important to me!”

Customer assistance representative Tonisha Scott is from Brown Deer and previously worked at First Citizens Bank as a customer contact rep. “I love to travel — a change in scenery is definitely refreshing for me,” she says. “A place high on my travel wish list would be the Bahamas, because of the beautiful weather and scenery. I would just love to try their food there.” •••
