Hallgren puts in hours to earn AML/fraud certification
Last month, BSA/AML lead Stephanie Hallgren became a Certified AML and Fraud Professional. Offered by the American Bankers Association, the CAFP certification denotes the recipient’s knowledge of money laundering and fraud regulations and trends.
“Stephanie was excited about earning the certification and spent time after work nearly every day for weeks to review exam materials and study,” BSA and compliance manager VP Kristen Gagliano said. “Her dedication was amazing, and her ever-increasing knowledge of BSA/AML requirements and bank processes make her invaluable to our success.” Read more about it now!

Refer an MLO and earn a $2,000 bonus
Know any good MLOs? The bank is looking for qualified mortgage loan originators and will pay a $2,000 bonus for successful referrals for the position. To qualify for the bonus, you must currently be actively employed by North Shore Bank. All employees are eligible except senior executives, HR staff, and managers if the referral is for a position they are responsible for.
For your referral to qualify, the candidate must remain employed by North Shore Bank for 180 days, and both you and the candidate must be employed here on the payment disbursement date. The first half of a referral payment will be paid out after the new hire’s first 30 days, with the remainder paid out after the 180 days are up. When you find yourself waiting, practice letting it go
We are always between one event and another — waiting for the weekend, the big vacation, retirement, the release of a new movie or book. Can you notice the frustration that so often accompanies waiting and just … let it go? You might have to let it go more than once. That’s OK — it’s good practice.
Try this meditation for one minute every day, or longer if you want to:
I STOP “WAITING” and tune into the present moment. I notice and accept where I am, and let things come.
How did this meditation go for you? Share your experience at shorelines@northshorebank.com and you’ll be entered to win a copy of A Mindful Day: 365 Ways to Live Life With Peace, Clarity, and an Open Heart, by David Dillard-Wright.
If you’d like a daily email reminder to practice one minute of mindfulness, email us with the subject “Mindfulness reminder.” —Pat Ingelse, AVP and PMP •••
Use our debit cards with Apple, Google, Samsung Pay
Your North Shore Bank debit card can be used with Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay anywhere you see the contactless symbol (pictured at right). When you make a payment with one of these “digital wallet” services, your card number is not shared with the merchant. Instead, a Device Account Number is used to process your payment, which protects your personal information.
Adding your North Shore Bank debit card to any of these three services is simple — find out how to do it here. To use Samsung Pay, you’ll need one of the following Samsung devices: Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy A5 or newer. •••
New Hires for December 2
It’s always exciting to add new members to our team. Here are some of the fresh faces at North Shore Bank.
Milwaukee Capitol teller Edessa Grant prefers to go by E. “It’s easier for people to remember, but Edessa is fine as well,” she says. She is from Milwaukee and previously worked for TalentBridge as a substitute school secretary. “I love baking and doing other fun projects with my son, Evan, who is 6,” she says. “He is a child with a wild imagination. He likes to draw, color, and build things with boxes or whatever he can find to glue or tape together. We mainly bake cupcakes or cookies.” •••
