We are the most measured, tagged, and observed people in the course of human history. We voluntarily track steps taken, calories consumed, and money spent. We have photos of countless daily moments on our mobile devices. It’s only natural to feel momentary bouts of panic, given the speed of technology and change. The challenge for those with a mindfulness practice is finding a quiet place to simply be and not to feel required to be connected every moment. Pay attention to the wonderful world around you. It misses you!
Try this meditation for one minute every day, or longer if you want to:
TAKE SOME TIME this evening to unplug. Log off the computer, turn off your phone. Simply sit and be, maybe go outside for a bit, or read a book if you must.

—Max Horkheimer and Theodor W. Adorno
