BANK ON KINDNESS

Garcia helps Waukesha school with donation of supplies

At school: Brookfield Square area manager Maria Baumer, La Casa de Esperanza VP of community engagement Maria del Pilar Wadina, school president and CEO Shari Campbell, video teller manager Rodney Whiteside, enrollment specialist Maria Carrillo, and Erika.

Student and teachers at Waukesha’s La Casa de Esperanza charter school are well prepared for classes to begin, thanks to an act of kindness from video teller Erika Garcia.

Erika was one of ten North Shore Bank employees recently given funds to put toward a good cause, as part of our ongoing Bank on Kindness initiative. She took the money and purchased supplies from La Casa de Esperanza’s wish list. ONE MINUTE OF MINDFULNESS

There’s no need to wait to practice mindfulness

You don’t need to get your life together to start meditating. You don’t need a budget or permission. You just need the willingness to find greater clarity and a few minutes. If you feel like your life is a mess, great! You have plenty of material to work with. Take a few minutes to simply observe. Become strong and fierce, and return to the world when you are ready.

Try this meditation for one minute today, or longer if you wish:

JUST NOTICE THINGS: your thoughts and emotions, flowers, voices, children, birds, the noises around you. Just notice them.

I do not wait for the perfect moment to come.
I do not wait for free time to magically appear.
I make my practice a priority and do not wait for permission to begin.

How did this meditation go for you? Share your experience with your fellow North Shore Bank employees at shorelines@northshorebank.com and you’ll be entered to win a copy of Mindfulness in Plain English, by Bhante Gunaratana.

If you’d like a daily email reminder to practice one minute of mindfulness, email us with the subject “Mindfulness reminder.” •••
