Northland personal banker Kelly Kading has always been candid about his love of learning — including when we checked in with him for his 20th anniversary with the bank.
“Every day Kelly surprises me. He has been a banker for 25 years and still gets excited to help customers and learn new things,” says his boss, Northland community engagement manager AVP Lacee Kalepp. “No matter what kind of chaos happens in the branch, we can always count on him to keep things moving forward and to keep looking for new opportunities to help his customers. He isn’t afraid to be bold when he knows it’s the right thing for the customer, and they couldn’t appreciate him more. We are so lucky to be able to learn from him!”
“Kelly has been such a pleasure to work with over the past 20-plus years,” says district manager VP Kerri Collins. “He has a strong commitment to help his customers with their financial needs and goals, and he comes to work each and every day excited to help them, his team, and the bank. Everyone loves him! He’s a great person, employee, dad, and grandpa.”
As he celebrates his 25th anniversary this month, Kelly remains keenly aware of the need to learn and adapt in and outside of business. Here’s what he had to say:
Like the country artist Kenny Chesney says, “Don’t blink” — because time sure flies. On a professional level, covid certainly changed the way banking has been done at the branches. I am thankful to say that North Shore Bank has helped me continue to learn how to adjust to changing times.
In 2020 I attended consumer loan training at Corporate for a few days. Later that same year, I was one of the initial people to attend IRA University, and in 2021 I attended Health Savings University. I have continued to use the skills learned there on the job and to share them with other employees, as I have now sponsored 25 other personal bankers since that program started in 2010. I keep very busy with customers and employee Jabbers, emails, and phone calls about the various things I may be able to help with.
On a personal level, I’m starting my 15th year as church treasurer. I also had my first grandchild, and she is awesome. Zoey is 18 months old now. I have also taken a couple trips to the Rocky Mountains and spent time on ancestry.com exploring my heritage. As for the next five years, I hope for much of the same!
Congratulations on Zoey and on 25 years, Kelly!
