Our strategic plan: an overview
Every spring, senior management team sits down for several all-day sessions to construct a strategic plan for North Shore Bank. During these sessions, many things are examined: current and potential environmental conditions, threats, opportunities, strengths, and weaknesses. The goal is to set a strategic course for the bank over the next three years. President and COO Jay McKenna shares some of the key takeaways from this year’s process. Read more here.
Allouez helps pets for Dog Days
The Allouez branch hosted a “Dog Days of Summer” event on August 25 and 26. The branch collected donations for the Bay Area Humane Society and gave a pet-friendly gift to everyone who donated. “A lot of our customers donated items from BAHS’s wish list, which included bleach, paper toweling, and pet food, as well as cash donations!” reported universal banker Olivia Vechart — whose dog Bindi even stopped by for a visit. “The customers loved her!” •••

New Hires for September 7
It’s always exciting to add new members to our team. Here are some of the fresh faces at North Shore Bank.
Senior loan funding rep Cathy Degner is from Milwaukee and previously worked for eight years at JPMorgan Chase’s downtown office, in home equity originations and refinancing. “I love scuba diving in warm, crystal-clear water — the Caribbean is my fav!” Cathy says. “I’ve completed 98 dives so far, and cannot wait to complete two more to hit 100. Next vacation, maybe?” •••
Take advantage of Weight Watchers Deal Days
Great news! We have reached the middle of our current Weight Watchers At Work Meeting series, and Weight Watchers has another early-renewal special for employees who want to continue making healthy changes and renew their membership, or who want to join as a new member.
It’s a discount called Deal Days. Deal Days are offered during a special window from September 8 to 15. We only need your commitment at this point. The new session of Weight Watchers At Work will start in October.
For a 12-week series, if you renew or join during the Deal Days window, you will pay only $132.60 (regular $156). This is a 15% discount! Payroll deduction is available, too, for easy payments.
If you are at a branch, you may sign up through the Corporate At Work group and then attend a Weight Watchers meeting in your area, at your convenience.
If you are at Corporate, you may attend a free meeting tomorrow, Friday, September 8, or on Friday, September 15, at 11 a.m. in the Lower Level Lounge to learn more.
Contact Nancy Hanson if you have questions or are interested in this special rate. •••
North Shore Shape Up: Can yoga prevent osteoporosis?
Harvard Health blogs about a 2015 study claiming that practicing yoga could reverse loss of bone density. The upshot: The research doesn’t prove yoga can prevent osteoporosis — except inasmuch as regular yoga improves balance and reduces the risk of falling, a frequent cause of osteoporotic fractures — but the results were promising.
Osteoporosis affects millions of Americans and more women than men. If you don’t exercise regularly, consider adding 15 minutes of yoga to your routine, three or four times a week. Weight lifting is even better, as it has been proven to increase bone density. •••
