Volunteer PTO continues in 2024

We are very pleased to announce that North Shore Bank will be keeping the Volunteer PTO program in place, which was launched in 2023 for our 100th anniversary.

The process for requesting time off for volunteer PTO remains the same as last year (see Ask Seymour section UKG Dimensions Timekeeping for Employees > Submit a Time-Off Request for details).

For volunteer opportunity ideas, you can refer to Bucketlist for ideas. It’s a good idea to check there monthly to see what has been added for bank event needs as well as community volunteer opportunities.

More info below:

All regular full-time employees will be eligible for up to eight (8) hours and part-time employees will be eligible for up to four (4) hours of Volunteer PTO during a calendar year.

Requests to use this PTO must be made at least two weeks in advance (or as soon as practicable and with no less than 48 hours’ notice), and must be entered in the UKG timekeeping system for approval by your manager. Requests for time off under this policy are subject to scheduling availability, similar to the regular PTO policy. This PTO is to be used solely for the purpose of volunteering in a community service related activity* which must be approved by your manager. Volunteer PTO is intended for activities that occur during the employee’s normally scheduled work days.

Volunteer PTO hours may be taken in increments of one hour (for non-exempt employees only), or half-day (4 hour) increments (for exempt employees), up to a total of eight hours for one day. Volunteer PTO hours will be included as time worked for purposes of determining overtime, if applicable.

Volunteer PTO hours not used by the end of the calendar year will be lost; they cannot be carried over to the next year, and will not be paid out.

*Examples of community service related activities include, but may not be limited to: volunteering at a 501(c)3 or similar tax-exempt organization, school-related activities such as accompanying on field trips, neighborhood clean-up activities, Scouting events, etc.
